William J. Thacker was born in 1836 in Elizabethtown, KY. He was the son of Nathaniel Thacker & Mary Ann Johnson. He enlisted in Co. D, 9th KY US Calvary on 22 Aug 1862 at the age of 26. Mustered out on 11 Sep 1863 at Emminence, KY. He married Jane Carr prior to 1858, probably in Floyd County, KY. William Thacker died in 1914 in Poplar Plains, Fleming County, KY. My family descends from his son William Thacker (1859-????) and granddaughter Vada Thacker.
