Son of Martin and Nancy Bertram Coyle. Enlisted 23 Dec 1863 at Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky. Mustered in at Camp Burnside 5 Apr 1864. Died of measles on 18 May 1864 at Camp Burnside. Buried at Coil-Stinson Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky

Son of James and Rachel Craig Coyle. Married 1) Nancy Bertram 2) Sena Smith. Enlisted 8 Jan 1864 at Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky. Mustered in at Camp Burnside on 5 Apr 1864. Discharge: 18 Apr 1865 Length of Service: 1 yr, 3 month, 10 days. Born 15 Oct 1825 in Clinton County, Kentucky and died 17 Dec 1913 in Wayne County, Kentucky. Buried at Taylors Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hidalgo, Wayne County, Kentucky.

Just discovered after all these years my family's Civil War history. James Granville Crabtree fought in the battle of Saltville and the 2nd Battle of Saltville with the 30th Kentucky Mounted Infrantry. He was my great grandfather.

This is my paternal great grandfather. His father's name was Robert Lyons and his mother's name was Mary Ann (do not know her maiden name) John Richard was born in Bledsoe County Tn. In this company he had two brothers, Nathan and Robert Lyons. He died in 1931 Pulaski county Ky. His wife's name was Lucinda (Lucy) McQuerry. John and Lucy are buried at Hudson-Wedell Cemetery rural Nancy, Ky

Has anyone seen a picture of Company D (or any other company in the 30th Regiment of Kentucky Mounted Infantry)? I have been told that pictures of Companies D and H existed. They were both very large pictures that hung on the wall, but the ones in my family were destroyed. I don't know if these were made during the war or after (veterans reunion). I have a picture of William Kidd and some documents that I could e-mail if anyone is interested.

Served with D Company, 30th Kentucky Mounted Infantry. He had eight brothers who served in both the U.S. Army and the CSA. The son who wrote the obituary was Henry H. Smith. Moved to Oneida, Tenn after the war. Youngest of ten children, nine boys and one girl.Buried in the Marcum cemetary in Oneida, TN. Tombstone reads, James Washington Smith, D Co 30th Kentucky Mounted Infantry.

Sgt Noble was wounded in the battle of Saltville, right shoulder which affected his shoulder & lungs the rest of his life. Recieved a pension Was a school teacher before the war & was also a Baptist minister. Had several churches where he preached after the war.He latermoved to Missouri where he founded the Pine Creek Baptist Church in 1888 His enlistment date was 26 December 1863 Mustered out 18 April 1865 Distinguished Service Married to Malinda Dodson, who recieved his pension of $12.00 a year after his death

Enlisted 22 Oct 1863 at Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky His brother-in-law was also in this unit: Granville S. Hancock. Granville was married to James' sister, Mary M. Canada. James got sick and was dropped from the company's rolls 1 Oct 1864. I have copies of his service records.

This veteran is related to my mothers mom. I have copies of his service records and discharge papers.

My great great grandfather. My dad's grandmothers father.

Andrew was my Great-Great Grandfather. He served in this unit during the war. At this time, I am still searching for his grave. It is somewhere in the old Cox cemetery in Gray, KY.

This is my great grandfather. In 1865, he changed his last name to Stroxtile. He is buried in Penn Run Cemetery in Louisville ky.

Burdine was born March 2, 1844. Burdine served in the Union Army during the Civil War with CO. K 30th KY INF and CO. M 2nd KY CAV. He died October 10, 1930. He is listed in the USG War archives as a private http://files.usgwarchives.org/ky/military/rosters/union/30rega-k.txt I have a picture of his gravestone listing his unit. He served in K company. 'The 30th Kentucky Mounted Infantry was organized under the 20,000 call, and was mustered into the United States service for one year. Companies A, B, E and F were mustered in at Frankfort Ky., February 19, 1864, and Company G March 29, 1864, by Capt. Charles H. Fletcher, 1st United States Infantry, and Companies C, D, H, I and K were mustered in at Camp Burnside, Ky., April 5, 1864, by Maj. J. C. Henderson, 45th Ky. Infantry.' Initially created to protect the Kentucky State Capital and to be in the service of the state, their mission changed as the War Department ordered that they be mustered into the United States Service. It seems that the service demanded every available man that could be raised. It was noted that 'This order at first created some little dissension...' but the 30th became 'one of the most efficient one-year regiments in the service.'
