1st Massachusetts Infantry

my 2nd great grandfather enlisted in the 1st Mass. company B in May 1861, I found company B were men from East Boston, Mass. he got very ill in a Virginia hospital while in service and was relieved honorably from his regiment, but shortly after re-enlisted in August 1861 and was sent to the 20th Mass. regiment infantry were he served his 3 years of service and was honorably mustered out on May 1864.

Enlisted as a Private on 13 March 1862 at the age of 19. Received a disability on 10 April 1863. Distinguished Service. Was a Sailmaker in Charlestown.

Wallace Ransom was from South Boston, Massachusetts. He was 20 when he enlisted in Company E, Massachusetts 1st Infantry Regiment on 25 May 1861. Promoted to Full Sergeant. Mustered out on 01 Aug 1861 at Arlington, VA. Enlisted in the Massachusetts 3rd Light Artillery Battery on 05 Sep 1861. Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 18 Nov 1864. Mustered out on 01 Sep 1864. Transferred to the Massachusetts 5th Light Artillery Battery on 01 Sep 1864. . Mustered out on 01 Nov 1864. Commissioned an officer in Company 29th, Massachusetts 29th Heavy Artillery Company on 18 Nov 1864. Mustered out on 16 Jun 1865. WOUNDED AT WELDON RAILROAD

Elijah served for three years. He enlisted on May 24, 1861 in Boston, MA and was mustered out with his regiment on May 25, 1864.

Wounded in action May 5, 1852, Bull Run July 2, 1862 and at Gettysburg July 2, 1863

Enlisted as a Private on 15 March 1862 at the age of 21. Deserted on 18 November 1862 at Burke's Station, VA.

Wounded in left leg on June 25, 1862 near Fair Oaks VA. Received care at the Mount Pleasant Hospital.

Enlisted as a Private on 23 May 1861 at the age of 26. Lived in Boothbay, ME. Promoted to Full Corporal. Mustered out on 25 May 1864 at Boston, MA.

killed at Gettysburg July 2, 1863 ... only soldier killed that day in Co. G near the Emmittsburg Road.

Harrison mustered in as a private in Company I on December 4th, 1861. He mustered out of the 1st in May of 1864 as a private. He later enlisted as a private in the 4th MA Heavy Artillery, Company K in August of 1864. He mustered out of service as a private in June of 1865.

My relative enlisted 22 Oct 1861. Commanded by Capt Chas. E. Rand. On 30 Jun 1862 he was reported missing at Nelson's Farm, Virginia. 3 May 1863 he was wounded 'through both thighs' at Chancellorsville, VA. He survived the war, transferring out into Company D, and re-enlisted in 9th VRC Regiment U.S. Veteran Reserve Corps. He mustered out of Company D, honorably discharged 18 Nov 1865.
