Enlisted as a Private on 14 October 1861 at the age of 23. Mustered in Company A, 10th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 6 February 1862. Mustered out on 19 July 1865 at Louisville, KY.

This is my Great-Great Grandfather, who is buried in Bancroft Michigan.

Ralph Potts was born on July 1817 (or 1818) He enlisted on 14 November 1861 as a Private. He received a disability discharge from Company D,10th Infantry Regiment Michigan on 24 January 163 at Nashville, TN. He died on 1 April 1905

George Washinton Sample was wounded at the Battle of Stone's River with having the index finger of his right hand shot off. The elders in my family says he was a wagon driver and a fife player

William was originally assigned to Company D. However, at some point early into his time with Michigan 10th Infantry, Company D, William returned home (Sanilac County, Michigan) in December 1861, due to family issues & ended up shooting/killing his brother-in-law. He was found guilty & sentenced possibly to the newly formed Jackson Prison (in Jackson, Michigan). William received a pardon from prison in November 1863 & was immediately sent back to the Civil War - but this time as part of Michigan 10th Infantry Company H. It's very possible that his last name was misspelled as Schrimshaw, Grimsong or Grimshaw... I have not been able to find much about what might have happened during his short time in Company H. I do know that in October 1869 William was (apparently directly after his time with Company H) sent by the military to MALDEN LUNATIC ASYLUM in Ontario, Canada. William Scrimshaw died in the London Asylum in Ontario Canada in 1881. His wife, Naomi, never saw him after he murdered her sisters husband. I am still searching for any information I can acquire on William &/or Naomi Scrimshaw.

He was my 3rd great-grandfather. He died during the Civil War. Drowned in Ohio River. A native of Elgin Co., Ontario Canada.

Levi was my 3rd great-grandfather. He served under Sherman during his infamous March to the Sea. Levi kept a brief journal depicting some of his experiences during his enlistment.

Morgan D. Mercer, LaPeer Co. Michigan. Mentioned as a pvt. in Co. F. 10th Michigan infantry. Was member of firing squad that executed a deserter.

Col Dunphy was my Great-grandfather. I am looking for birthplace, parents, etc.

Joseph died Sept 1. 1864 in Jonesboro, Georgia at 23 years if age. He was born 1841 in Guys Mills, Pa. He was in the 10th Michigan Volunteers and was mentioned in 'War of Rebellion', Series 1, Vol 38, Pt.1, Page 411.

Born 1842, Died 1915. Buried at Lisbon Cemetery, Kent County MI

Nathan E. Lewis Lapeer County. Enlisted in company H. Tenth Infantry, October 26, 1861, at Meamora, for 3 years, age 45. Mustered Feb. 6,1862. Transferred to Vetran Reserve Corps Aprl 10, 1864. Discharged at Detroit, Mich. Feb.6, 1865.

Enlisted 12/12/1861 at Clarkston, Mi. as a Corporal. Mustered out 7/10/1865 at Louisville, Ky as a 1st Sergeant

Nathan was born June 22, 1843, and enlisted in the 10th Michigan Infantry, Company K on August 11, 1862 at the age of 19. Since he was underage, his father, John, had to sign a consent form. His brother, William, was a witness. William was also in the Civil War, same company. Nathan was wounded August 13, 1864 in East Point, GA. My information states he was there until the war ended in 1865.
