I have a picture, not in uniform. He is listed on the roster of Beauregard Defenders and enlisted May 3, 1862, in Marion Co., MS. That is all the information I have on him; he was my great grandfather.

Hawkins served in the Confederate Army as a Private in Co. B, 7th MS Battalion. He enlisted May 3, 1862, in Marion Co., MS, with his brother Daniel Austin. He was captured at Vicksburg, MS, July 4, 1863. Listed as Pvt. on roster of Beauregard Defenders, Co. B .

GGG Uncle, son of Pvt. Daniel Grantham (War 1812, 13th Rgt. Miss. Terr. Militia, Battle NO) and Sarah Slade and direct descendant of Pvts. David Irby, Samuel Slade and Lewis Grantham, American Revolution. Wounded @ Corinth and taken prisoner Oct. 1862; Discharged Dec. 12, 1863

Joseph A. J. Hart was seventy years old when he enlisted as third corporal in the Mississippi 7th Infantry. He was a veteran of the War of 1812 and his father John Bryan Hart a veteran of the American Revolution. He survived being wounded and captured and was still ready to fight when his fellow confederate soldiers surrendered at Citronella, Alabama. A tribute is made to him in the History of Pike County. According to Confederate Records, he never rose above the rank of sergeant. Unofficially he was "cadet” of his sons, grandsons and other assorted relatives in the company.

Taken prisoner at the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863. Imprisoned at Camp Douglas, Illinois.

Survived the war only to be murdered by carpetbaggers in 1867 near Flora, MS.

A.G. Webb's older brother, William T. Webb, M.D., was a captain in Co D, 7th MS Info. Another brother, Henry W. Webb was killed in the battle of Murfreesboro. (Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Mississippi, Vol. II, Chicago: 1891, pages 1004-1005). A.G. Webb also served in Co D. In a 1921 Application for Pension, A.G. Webb states that he 'was shot through left arm & left leg.' His regimental commander was Hamilton Mayson; his company commander was Henry Pope.

Richmond was wounded and captured at Vicksburg, He was killed in the Atlanta campaign.

Died from wounds received after battle at Iuka-October.

Lt. Bethea was my great great grandfather. He was from S.C.where he graduated from the medical college of Charleston. he moved to franklin County Mississippi in 1859. Joined the 7th Mississippi Vols. at meadeville. He was 1st sgt. until Shiloh. He was a preacher and physician and spent most of his time in service tending to the body and soul of the men of the regiment. he came home sick after Shiloh and lived in meadeville and Summit MS where he retired as a pharmacist and 'supply preacher' for the Methoduist Conference. Enlisted as a Private on 27 September 1861 at the age of 23. Promoted to 3rd Corporal 1 September 1863. Captured at Missionary Ridge, TN on 25 November 1863. Forwarded to Louisville, KY on 7 December 1863. Sent to Rock Island Barracks, IL on 9 December 1863. Took the Oath of Allegiance on 18 March 1864. Joined the U.S. Army for frontier service on 4 October 1864.

I was named Jackson after my great grandfather Andrew Jackson Burkett, who was the nephew of the Andrew Jackson Burkett who served in the 7th.

Abraham along with his brother in law Shephard Herrin and brothers Andrew and George Washington Byrd, all enlisted at Williamsburg, Miss on 14 May 1862. Abraham in 25 years old. He dies of Chronic Diarrhoeo on 21 Feb. 1863 at Haines Bluff, Mississippi. He has a CSA stone at the Byrd Cemetery, Sanford, Covington Co. Miss. Deo Vindice

Andrew, along with several other family members joined Co G 7th Battn, Mississippi Infantry. Enlisting on 14 May 1862 at Williamsburg, Miss. He is 21 years old. He and his brother George were absent from their company as patients in the hospital. Their unit moved on and they joined another company. The remarks on their CMR is that they joined the Cavalry. I do not know if Andrew survived the war.

George enlisted at Williamsburg, Miss. with several of his family. Enlisting on 14 May 1862. He was 20 years old. He and his brother Andrew were sick in the hospital when their unit shipped out. The are carried on Co. G's roster with the comment: they joined another company / Cavalry. George survived the war, dying on 10 April 1916 at Sumrall, Larmar Co Miss. I am not sure of what happend to his brother Andrew.

J.L. Hatten was discharged in October 1862, died 1864.

Shephard was abt. 32 years old from Covington County, Miss. He enlisted on 14 May, 1862 at Williamsburg. Joining Co G. 7th Batt'n Miss. Vol's. He died on 24 Oct 1862 in the hospital, probably of disease. He was married to my 3 cousin 4 x removed. Zilphia Opehelia Byrd b. 26 July 1835. Shephard is buried in the Confederate Cemetery at Lauderdale, lauderdale County, Miss.

Thomas C. Boyt Had two Brothers that served for MS. They Are Ellis P. Boyt and Hugh Boyt. His rank in was a fifer and ranked out as a private.

Daniel Keen was also listed as Daniel Keene, pvt; A Yerger's Regt. Ms cav.;

Grandpa was wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga ...When I was 10 years old I visited the Battlefields of Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge with my grandfather James Austin's son who then was in his 80's and he told me stories of the war and battle details that his dad had told him...My grandfather had never visited the battle field before that day...it was amazing

He was 'severely' wounded on December 31, 1862 at Murfreesboro injured in 'first charge in front of breastworks'

James Reynolds died at Tyner Station, TN on Aug. 19, 1862. His body rests in the Silverdale Confederate Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
