My GG Uncle, brother of Fletcher Toliver Perkins 14th MS Co G. Born 1835 Giles county TN. Captured and died at Camp Douglas IL of smallpox Nov 24, 1864 buried in Oak Wood cemetary, Chicago, IL. Son of Hugh M. Perkins

James Madison was my Great Great Grandfather from Kemper County MS and is buried Highway 493 in Kemper County MS.

Captured at Vicksburg, let go, then captured at Atlanta, GA. Sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois, until end of war.

Born April 1844, Kemper County, MS Died October 10, 1862. Possibly related to Battle of Corinth. His brother, Americus Mitchell Gill, served as a private in the 13th Mississippi Infantry and is listed there. A.M. Gill survived the war and is my Great Grand Father

Henry B Hudnall was the son of William Henry & Nancy Courtney Hudnall. He was born 15 Sep 1832 in Sumter SC and died 16 Aug 1912 in Blackwater MS. He is buried in the Blackwater Cemetery.

After further research, Reuben or Robert Lucky Lockler, left for home temporarily but came back and was indeed at Vicksburg and captured with that garrison. He was slightly wounded and then paroled later.

Entered service with 'Barry's Guards' at Pleasant Ridge Academy, five miles south of De Kalb, Kemper county MS on February 26, 1862. 2nd Senior Lt. promoted to 1st Lt. July 1862. Fought in in the battle of Iuka (MS) September 1862. Wounded October 3, 1862 at the battle of Corinth(MS). Captured, and paroled and exchanged at seige of Vicksburg (MS) July 1863- November 1863. Wounded at Altoona Pass (GA) Early October 1864, and Franklin (TN) (reached the abatis) November 30, 1864. Wounded at battle of Fort Blakely (AL) April 2, 1865. Surrendered with 35th Mississippi Infantry Regiment and returned home to Kemper county, MS May 1865. He lost three brothers during the war.

1829-1901 Buried Hickory Cemetery, Hickory, Newton County Ms. He was in confederate hospitals at Marion & Lauderdale Springs Ms. Discharged in January of 1864 for leg infection. He married Nancy Virginia Holdcroft 1857 in Newton County.

A.J. Townsend, was from Kemper County, Mississippi. Samuel was captured 12/04/62 at Water Valley, Mississippi. He was imprisoned at Alton, Illinois where he died of small pox on 2/07/1863.

John was born in 1841 He only has 2 archival cards which are of poor quality. He enlisted 31 March 1862 when the Regiment formed. He served under officers named Ashford's and Woodruff. His unit fought at Corinth, Vicksburg, Atlanta Campaign, Nashville and Mobile. He survived the invasion and died 20 Oct 1917 in Calhoun county Miss. We are related via distant marriage.

William H. Moore was my great grandfather. He was born in Pitt Co. NC and died in Carroll Co. MS.

Asa and Joseph Robertson were brothers. Asa was killed Oct 7 1862 after Corinth - according to family notes. Joseph survived the war having been captured three times. He was parolled twice, including Vicksburg but spent 4 months in prison at Camp Chase, Ohio after Nashville battle Dec 1864.

Robert J. (John) Self was born in S. C., was in Winston Co., Miss., by mid-1850s, joined the 'Ft. Donelson Avengers' at Louisville, Miss., March 1862. Assigned as a teamster, was at the fall of Vicksburg, signed his parole paper, went on to fight again and was captured Oct 5, 1864, at Altoona, Ga., was a prisoner of war at Louisville, Ky., Camp Douglas, Ill., and Point Lookout Md, and wound up as far as documented when he was in March 1865 furloughed for 60 days from Chimbarazo Hospital #2, near Richmond, Va. suffering chronic rheumatism. He is listed in census of 1880, West Rd., Holmes Co., Miss.

Born 17 May 1839. Lived in Winston Co, Mississippi. In March 1862 he joined 35th Infantry Regiment Mississippi, Company D, Fort Donelson Avengers (raised in Winston County, MS). He died 15 June 1863 from effects of wounds received at Vicksburg, MS and is buried at Soldier's Rest Cemetery.

James A. Whitehead was captured after Corinth at Coffeeville Mississipi. He died at Alton Ill prison 03/15/1863. A memorial marker is placed at the Whitehead family cemetery in Winston County, Mississippi.

1845-1913 Enlisted in March 1862. Lost his right leg at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. Moved to Leon County, Texas in 1869. Lived there the rest of his life

My GG Grandfather. Born April 8th, 1845 in Winston County, MS. Later moving to Neshoba County. Enlisted May 6th, 1862. Captured in the assault on Fort Blakeley, AL April 9th 1865. Paroled May 4th 1865. Died on Dec 3, 1925 and buried in Philadelphia, MS.

My g.g.g. grandfather was killed during the Vicksburg seige. His son, my uncle, Thomas B. Walsh, burried his father and went on to fight at the Battle of Franklin.

Enlisted in the same unit as his older brother and just as his older brother, was KIA at Corinth

Mustered in as Captain, May 22, 1862. Paroled as POW, Major at Greensboro, NC, May 1, 1865. Family lore says he was a Colonel???

John, a Tennessee native living in Noxubee County, MS, was enlisted at Camp Priceville near Tupelo, MS, on July 6, 1862, by William S. Barry for a period of 3 years. He was Killed in Action at the Battle of Corinth on Oct. 4, 1862.

James Has 23 cards in his archival file. He enlisted 20 April 1862 in Lauderdale, Mississippi at age 23.In Dec. 1863 he is listed as 2nd Corporal. He is captured and released 3 times. 1st, Do not know where he was captured but was Paroled 13 Oct. 1862 at Bolivar Tenn. 2nd Captured at Vicksburg Miss on 4 July 1863. and paroled. 3rd. Captured at Nashville Tenn. and sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago,Ohio. Paroled on 19 June 1865. He was from Kemper County Miss. He and his family moved to Smith County Texas. He was the husband of Euphenia Armintha Thomas, my 3rd cousin 4 x removed.

My great-great-grandfather, was captured at Kennesaw Mountain, apparently prior to the Battle, and was held at Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL until mid-June, 1865.

John Gibbons Harper died at Vicksburg in 1863

Survived the war and practiced law in Columbus, MS. Also became a MS State Senator.

Henry survived the war and settled Saline County, Arkansas where he married and raised a large family.

Andrew Richey was a Sargent in the 35th Mississipi Infantry Company "H". He was killed at Corinth Mississippi 2 Oct 1862. Enlisted 1 Mar 1862.

Not my relative, but after taking a picture of his head stone and posting it to Find-a-Grave - I have become responsible for that information.

Church originally signed up with the 14th Mississippi, Company G, but was severely injured and discharged from service. A few months later Church recovered and rejoined with the 35th Mississippi Infantry, Company H.

Buried in Center Ridge Methodist Cem. in Winston County, MS.

Wiley was in Corinth in 1962, and then Vicksburg beginning January 1863. He wrote letters from Vicksburg, Greenwood, and the Blind Asylum Hospital in Jackson, Ms. and the Texas Confederate Hospital, Quitman, Ms., where he died on July 29, 1863. I have copies of those letters. He was from Oktibbeha and Choctaw counties.
