Jacob has 3 cards in his archival file. He was 21 years old when he enlisted at Enterprise, Miss. on 15 July 1864 for the war. Not much is known about his service. He survived and died 9 Sept 1899 at Moss, Jasper Co. Mississippi.

Researching geneology and came across the muster roll for Reddic. Currently validating familial associations and such, which could take a while, but would be grateful for any information about him or his family. Would also LOVE to find a photo of the 44th Infantry or of C company specifically, if any do exist.

Captain of the Calhoun Avengers, Mississippi 44th Infantry, Company C. Later Judge James RM Duberry of Calhoun, MS. He was likely chosen as Captain due to his experience in the 2nd Seminole War around 1836.

Capt. Hugh William Gaston, son of James Hugh Gaston and Adeline [Kee] Gaston, was born in Wilcox County, Alabama. Hugh Gaston was Captain of the Calhoun Avengers, Co. C, 44th Regiment Mississippi Infantry. Capt. Gaston was mortally wound on August 4th 1864 outside of Atlanta and buried on the battlefield. His older brother, Capt. James M. Gaston (42nd Miss Inf) was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg. Capt. Hugh William Gaston died at the age of 24; leaving a wife, Flora Jane Buchanan Gaston and young son, Samuel to grieve his noble sacrifice.

Prisoner at Rock Island, Ill. The prison record stated 4th Regiment incorrectly. He was in the 44th Mississippi Infantry, Company C - Calhoun Avengers under his uncle Captain James R M Duberry. Captured Nov 25th, 1863 at Ringgold, GA

Enlisted 25 June 1861. Shown present to September - October 1862 muster roll when shown as absent sick until January - February 1863 muster roll. He was wounded through the arm in the battle at Chickamauga, GA, on 20 September 1863 and sent to hospital. He was disabled and did not return to his company. Also served as 2nd Lieutenant, Co. B, Major G. L. Blythe's Battalion, Mississippi State Troops on muster roll dated to 31 December1864.

William Daniel Young is my wife''s g-g-grandfather who later in life moved to Milam County, (Rockdale) Texas. It has always been passed down through the family that William was captured and served some time as a prisoner of war but no one knows for sure when or where and where did he serve his prison time? Any help would be appreciated.

John J Gambrell joined in talladega Al and was in the Jabe Curry Rifles then this became the Al 24th Co. K they merges into the 44th Mississippi Blythes Bridgade.

Not sure but this man could be Nimrod Asa Argo, joined the 20th Alabama then seems to vanish. This man is buried in a csa cemetery in Lauderdale, Mississippi. Company I was made up from Alabama volunteers so any information would be helpful.
