72nd New York Infantry

My Grandfather was William Crowe. I have a copy of his service record and a 15 page oral deposition taken on the occasion of his application for a pension.

Killed on May 5th 1862 at the Battle of Williamsburg. Buried at Hanover Cemetry in Morris County New Jersey. A Picture of his Headstone can be seen at Find a Grave

I have an oil portrait of CK Abell, handed down to us from his granddaughter. It came from her house in Dunkirk, NY. I'm interested in any photographs, info on his life or references to his battlefield activities. thank you.

Patrick enlisted on 27 August 1862 at Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, New York. He was wounded at Hatchers Run, Virginia, when a rifle ball passed through his right arm or shoulder. Mustered out as a corporal on 13 July 1865 at Rochester, New York. See Pension File Pension App. No. 258346 Cert. No. 553979, (Civil War). Patrick was born about 1839 in Ireland and he died 12 November 1902, in Custer City, McKean County, Pennsylvania, survived by his wife Mary A. Heatherinton Maloney. He was the son of William Maloney (born Ireland) and Johanna (Hannah) McCoy (born Ireland). Brother of Cornelius Maloney who also served in the 72 NY.
