my great great grandfather was taken prisoner at the battle of fair oaks, on 10/27/64. he was shot in the ankle and taken to gwalthemy hospital (hospital c) in richmond, va. he subsequently died of gangrene on 11/29/64 at the hospital and buried the following day 11/30/64 on the hospital grounds. his headstone was removed and the graves at that site were reinterred at richmond national cemetary where he is an unknown soldier

We know that Richard Smallbones Foster served in the Civil War from New York and was in the 148th infantry, Company G. We would like to know if there are any pictures of the 148th? Also , are there any others that are researching this same line of Fosters that could help in our search?
