Says, Elbert Prouty, joined the 169th New York regiment on Feb 9, 1864. He was mustered out on July 19, 1865, all before his 19th birthday.

b. September 23, 1833 in Co. Wicklow, Ireland; emigrated to the United States via Liverpool, England, in August, 1852. Officially cited for gallantry by the colonel commanding his regiment at the Battle of Fort Fisher, N.C., on January 15th, 1865. Wounded at the Battle of Cold Harbor, Va., on June 1st, 1864 (gun shot wound to the face); also wounded and buried alive in the magazine explosion at Fort Fisher on January 16th, 1865. d. June 30, 1911 in Troy, N.Y. Buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy, N.Y.

James Birney Sabin – James was 18 at the time of his enlistment on 5 Sep 1864. He then was mustered into Co G., 169th NY Vol. Inf. on 5 Sep 1864 as a Pvt. And then he was mustered out on 16 June 1865 at Raleigh, N.C.
