193rd New York Infantry

Eugene E. Luce (9/24/1848-6/22/1886), served in the 193rd New York Infantry, credited to Kingston, NY, at the end of the war, as a Musician, from 5 April 1865, to 18 January 1866. He lived in Ohio and Minnesota through at least 1880, but is buried in the Village cemetery, Middlesex.

Enlisted at Fowler, New York and sworn in at Malone, New York on March 6, 1865 for one years service. A company Descriptive Book states that he was 21 years old, stood at 5' 4 1/4' with blue eyes, black hair and a light complexion. He was paid a bounty of $33.33 with a balance due of $66.67 for his volunteer service and was sworn into service by 2nd Lieutenant James H. Hitchcock. Mustered in on the same day. His name appears on regimental returns as being detached on Aug 27, 1865, and in October 1865 performing duty as a mounted orderly for General Headquarters. Mustered out at Harpers Ferry, Va. on January 18, 1866. After the war he returned to Malone New York and later received a pension for his ills. A pension payment of $4.00 a month was initiated on March 7, 1889. He is buried at the West Bangor (a.k.a. Develin) cemetery. His father, Pvt Chester Barrett, and a brother, Pvt. Whitmore Henry Barrett both served with Co G, 98th New York Infantry.
