Enlisted at Age:20 in Cleremont Co. Ohio. in December 1863. Was wounded in the Right ankle and foot at Battle of Cove Mountain,(Crockett''s Cove) Virginia on May 10th, 1864. Captured at the at conferderate raid on Beverly, Va on January 11, 1865 while guarding train. Taken to Libby Prison and held until Feburary 14, 1865 and then medically paroled. Rejoined unit and was later consolidated into the 36th OVI and was Honorably Discharged in July, 1865. Was in action at several battles including Cedar Creek, Fisher''s Hill, Opequan, Cove Mountain, Lynchburg Raid, Winchester, Etc.
Buried in May Chapel Cemetary, east of Lawrenecveille, Illinois
