Henry lost his brother, Seth, who joined the OVI the same day he did, 20 May 1864 atChattanooga, TN. Here is Henry's obituary. Henry C. Patton was born at Maineville, Warren county, Ohio, September 7, 1844, and died in Logansport, Ind.; July 18, 1913, age 68 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having enlisted at the age of 17 at Camp Dennison, Ohio, in Co. B, 79th 0. V. I., and serving until the close of the war, when he received an honorable discharge. On returning home from the service he joined his parents, who had moved to Pipe Creek, Cass county, Ind. Shortly after returning home he united with the United Brethren church in Christ, and lived a Christian life until called to his Heavenly nome. In 1871 he was united in marriageto Mary E. Jones of Fulton and to this union four children were born, John and Nellie, who died in infancy; Samuel B., who died seven years ago at the age of 32 years, and Noah S., now living at Fort Wayne. In 1875 he moved and settled near Fulton county, Ind. The wife and mother having dies in June, 1881, he was, in November, 1883, again united in marriage to Jane Masterson of Fulton, and to this union three children were born, Goldie M., Silas C., both of Logansport, and William M., of South Bend. Thius wife and mother died June 22, 1907. He remained at the home for about two years longer, when he broke up housekeeping and has been living with his children since. On July 14, he met with an accident which caused concussion of the brain, and he died on July 18, having never regained consciousness. He was a true and loving companion, a very kind and affectionate father and always had a kind word of greeting for all his friends. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our homes Which never can be filled. Funeral services weret held in the Fulton U. B. church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Butler. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Fulton cemetery. Seth was born in 1841 in Ohio, probably Mainville, Warren, Ohio. He joined the OVI with his yonger brother Henry Patton. He died 20 May 1864 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have yet to find where he is buried.

He enlisted 31 July 1862. Served as a cook. Discharged 9 June 1865 near Washington DC. Then moved to Joliet, Illinois where he died 14 October 1906 in the same hour as his brother Stephen Goble who was also a Civil War veteran.

Robert Ertel enlisted as a 24 year old Private on 4 Aug 1862 Mustered into Co E 79th OVI on 23 Aug 1862 Died of disease at Louisville, Kentucky on 8 Jan 1863 Buried at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky

Mustered in at Camp Dennison, August 22, 1862. Transferred to 165th Regiment, 2nd Batt April 28, 1863. Was often a clerk at HQ of the Dept. of the Ohio and was a printer on the 'Mail Bag' Army Newspaper. Honorably discharged October 22, 1864 after 13 weeks of hospitalizaion in hospital #8, Nashville, TN.
