He enlisted at age 18 and served as a private in the Ohio Volunteer on August 7th 1862 and mustered out on June 7th, 1865 in Washington DC. He was born February 3rd, 1844 and died March 18th, 1909.His wife's name was Sarah Hester Taylor. He was my great grandfather.

Doughman wounded at Chickamauga, returned as disabled to Union, later returned to home at Goshen, Clermont County, Ohio,

Wounded at Chickamauga and taken prisoner. Escaped three days later. Moved from Ohio about 1868 to Illinois and became a barber. Died 03 March 1905 Maroa, Macon Co, IL. Buried in Wright's Grove (also called Ridge) cemetery near Maroa.

One of my great granduncles. Enlisted at the age of 15 years, 6 months, 7 days. His brother, Wesley Rowe Adams, also served in this unit.

One of my great grandfathers. His brother, Nelson Adams, also served with this unit. Captain Adams was captured during the Battle of Chickamauga and sent to Libby Prison. After 4 months and 9 days, he escaped through a tunnel, along with 108 other prisoners, and rejoined his unit for General Sherman's campaign against Atlanta, Georgia. While later serving under General Thomas, he was appointed as Colonel of the 175th Ohio Infantry (USA) but before his commission arrived, the 175th was so reduced in numbers at the Battle of Franklin that he was not able to muster in as their Colonel. He was not successful in his efforts to reconstitute the regiment and returned home at the conclusion of the war.
