My great great grandfather served as an Artificer with B Company, 6th PA Heavy Artillery from 09/15/1864 - 06 13/1865

This was my great-great grandfather. He was promoted to chief musician just before he mustered out, and was presented a ''handsome'' sword. It is said that he led the band that marched in Pres. Lincoln''s Inaugural Parade.

I have photos of other soldiers in this group. Would like to find their relatives.

Josiah Greer is my ggg-uncle. He enlisted September 3, 1864 in New Castle, Lawrence Co., PA. He was mustered out June 13, 1865 in Fort Ethan Allen, VA. He married Mariah Morrison Ross and had Calvin Scott, Mary Ann, William, Robert Franklin, Oliver, Ida, Annie and Wilson R. Greer. He is the brother of John H. Greer and Isabella Greer Michael.

Born June 2, 1830 Died September 24, 1908 Born and lived entire life in Fayette County, PA. Married Frances Elizabeth Cooper and had eight children. He was my ggg grandfather. No specific military information is known except for mustered dates.

John was injured in a train derailment while traveling from Virginia to Pittsburgh where his unit was going to be disband, on June 18, 1865.
