74th Pennsylvania Infantry

Phillip Laible was my gggrandfather. He was KIA at Cross Keys Va on June 8th,1862 He had lived in Philadelphia since 1854 after emigrating from Baden. I believe he is buried in a mass grave in Staunton Va, although I am not positive. Any info on Phillip would be appreciated.

Mustered out Company A, 74th Infantry Regiment Pennsylvania on 29 August 1865 in Clarksburg, WV Ordered to West Virginia, and duty guarding Baltimore & Ohio Railroad till April, 1865. At Beverly April 8-May 12, and at Clarksburg, W. Va., and guarding Parkersburg branch of Baltimore & Ohio Railroad till August. Mustered out August 29, 1865.

Also served in Co. I, 21st PV and Co. B, 3rd USVV.

Served under the command of Capt. Lewis Miller; mustered in on 2/25/1865 and mustered out on 8/29/1865.

Enlisted on 3/4/1865 as a Private. On 3/4/1865 he mustered into 'D' Co. PA 74th Infantry He was Mustered Out on 8/29/1865 at Clarksburg, WV...........maternal grandfather of the wife of my grand uncle...... John David Land.

Born on 3 Jan 1837 in Minden, Germany, August immigrated to the United States and settled in Pittsburgh's South Side/Birmingham area prior to the Civil War. He joined the 74th in September of 1861 and served three years. He was at 2nd Bull Run, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and with the regiment down in the Charleston SC Campaign.
