97th Pennsylvania Infantry

my grandfather also fought under the name George Brown. He took ill, was discharged and signed up again under the name William Anderson. He was from London Ontario Canada. Am told he enlisted at age 16 in 1863, fought at Cold Harbor and Petersburg where he got shot in leg and had leg amputated

Independent Company, 'Captain Jones' Company'

Weber, of West Chester, PA, enlisted in the 9th PA Inf.(A 3 month regiment) in 1861. When his enlistment was up he enlisted in the 97th PA. Inf as sergeant. Promoted to 2nd.Lt. Wounded at James island, SC in 1862. Seconded to the US Signal Corps in 1863. Mustered out in August, 1865.

Died July 18,1879. Buried in Dunmore Cemetary, Dunmore, PA

Mustered in Sept 16, 1861 At West Chester, PA. Mustered out Sept. 17, 1864 Residence at time of Enrollment: Sugartown, Chester Co., Pa. Died: Nov. 15, 1915 Rural Twp., Rock Island, Co., Illinois Buried Chippananock Cemetery, Rock Island, Rock Island co., Illinois
