Lewis was born 29 Sep.in Laurens , Laurens District SC. He was 28 when he joined Capt Milton Sullivan's Co of Partisan Rangers. This became Co A 6th SC cavalry. Enlisting in the Greenville District. They were mustered into Confederate Service at Columbia, SC on 10 July 1862. Fought at Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, Petersburg Siege, Vaughn Road, Carolina Campaign, Darlington, SC. Solomon's Grove & Moore's Crossroads March 10, 1865. He is distantly related to me thru marriage.

Born April 2, 1820. Died September 30, 1880. Lost an arm during the war. Buried at Rabon Creek Baptist Church in Laurens County, SC.

Born 7 May 1826 in Laurens Co., South Carolina. Enlisted in the 9th SC Reserves in November 1862 for 90 days service. Enlisted in Company A, 6th SC Cavalry Regiment in Laurens on 13 July 1863. Died in Laurens, SC on 25 November 1885.

He was from Edgefield SC and surrendered with the Army of Northern Virginia.

Randal joined at Chesterfield SC. He was 23 years old. He died of Typhoid Fever at the Va. Hospital in Charleston SC on 8 Feb. 1864. He is buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston. He was 26 years old.

James was born 28 Aug 1845 in Mount Croghan, Chesterfield Co. SC. He was about 18 when he enlisted in 16th Battalion Partisan Rangers aka 1st Partisan Rangers [Aiken's] This became Co D of the 6th SC Cav. He has 5 cards in his archival file. Enlisted at Chesterfield, South Carolina 1 Sept 1863 by Captain Evans for the war. He was wounded 23 Aug. 1864 at the battle of Reams Station. He was given a 60 day furlough from the hospital at Petersburg. His unit was engaged in the following battles: Spotsylvania C.H., North Anna, Cold Harbor, Vaughn Road, Carolina Campaign and Monroe's Crossroads on 10 Mar 1865. His Regiment had been transferred to the Army of Tennessee and surrendered at the Bennett Place, NC. He died 17 Sep 1928. May God rest his soul.

Member of 6th SC Calvary Regiment, later the 16th Calvary. Fought at the Wilderness, Spotsvalynia, and wounded. Reassigned to Co G, SC 6th Calvary, and wounded again in 1864 in Charleston, SC. Assigned to SC Home Regiment until discharged April, 1865.

*Dozier, Edward Charles, 1st Corp. (1843-1919) Williamsburg, 3rd Classman. Prom. 5th Sgt. Apr. 1, 1863 and 2nd Sgt. Feb. 9, 1864. Brother of 1st Lt. A.W. Dozier, also of the 6th South Carolina Cavalry, Wade Hampton's Brigade, J.E.B. Stuart's Division, CSA Wounded in action at Lee's Mills Aug. 8, 1864. Plantation manager in Williamsburg Co. Removed to CA in 1869 where he was a ranch manager and rancher.

Peter was born in 1837 in Hebron, Marlboro District, SC. He is 23 in 1860. He has limited historical data and most comes from his obit and gravestone. I found his relatives but not him in the archival files. He died 9 July 1862 of Typhoid in Richmond County, Georgia and is buried in Magnolia Cem. West Augusta, Richmond Co. Ga. His gravestone reads [ Co. G John R Miot's Partisan Rangers. This company was a part of the 6th Regiment SC Cavalry. aka 16th Battalion aka 1st Akin's Regt.

M381 ROLL 18 Dixie Rangers (a/k/a Aiken's Partisan Rangers) Battle Unit Note: Formerly 16 Batt'n SC Partisan Rangers. Rank In: Junior Second Lieutenant / Rank Out: Second Lieutenant www.carolana.com states: Company G (a/k/a Miot's Company) probably existed as an Independent Cavalry Company as early as June 12, 1862. The men were from Richland, Abbeville, and Edgefield Districts. They mustered into Confederate service in Columbia, SC on August 6, 1862 for the duration of the war. Capt. John R. Miot commanded the company and retained command when it became Company G in the 6th SC Cavalry. Company G was based at Camp Bee near Ashepoo, SC in Colleton District during March of 1864. On January 19, 1865 along with others the 6th SC Cavalry were assigned to Brig. Gen. Thomas M. Logan's (SC) Brigade, Maj. Gen. Matthew C. Butler's (SC) Division, Lt. Gen. Wade Hampton, III's (SC) Corps...now re-assigned to South Carolina. In late January and early February of 1865, the men acquired new horses, if needed. The 6th SC Cavalry participated in the Carolinas Campaign from early February of 1865 until the end of the war. The regiment was last at Hillsborough, NC and left the night before Gen. Joseph E. Johnston (VA) surrendered on April 26, 1865. Lt. Col. Lovick P. Miller and most of the men rode to Charlotte, NC, simply disbanded, and went home. SC born in 1805 John Conrad Kennerly, records appear to show his 1875 final resting place may be in jeopardy of disappearance as the headstone (along with his wife's) is located in the Bonnett Family Cemetery (a wooded area surrounded by fields on private property in Orangeburg Co. SC).

Enlisted in June, 1861 in Marion District, SC for the war. Listed as part of dismounted battalion in July 1864. Appears on paroled list at Bennett's Place, part of Logan's Brigade, Butler's Division, Hampton's Cavalry Corps, Army of the South/Army of Tennessee.

James was born 26 Feb 1845 in Division 1, Darlington County, SC. The 1860 census shows him as aged 15. Enlisted at Darlington for 3 years or the war on 10 Jan 1864 in Capt. Whitner's Company Aiken's 1st Partisan Rangers. which became 6th SC Cavalry. His health was not good and got worse. He had several bouts of gastrointestinal issues and in Sept - Oct he was sick in the hospital at Florence SC without a horse. He was discharged at Charleston SC on 3 Sept 1864 as being medically unfit for service. He was my 4th cousin 4 x removed. He died 24 Mar 1895 and is buried in the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina

James Joined 1 Nov. 1862 at Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co. SC The 1st Regt. SC Partisans. They mustered in the same day at Adams Run. He was sick in hospital or in camp for some six months. Recovered and rejoined his unit. July 1864 his horse died and he is in the dismounted Battn: He was from Jefferson, Chesterfield Co. SC. He died 23 Feb. 1905 and is buried with honors at Rockey Creek Presbyterian Church at Jefferson, Chesterfield Co. SC. Any man that will not defend his home against attack is no man at all.
