He was born in Rollhofen, Bavaria, Germany in 1835 and died in Charlestown, WI in 1913. He was drafted and joined the 9th Wisconsin Infantry (Company C) on 1/27/1865. He was a farmer and lived in Charlestown Township (near Chilton) in Calumet County, WI. He served in Arkansas and was mustered out of the Army in Little Rock, Arkansas on 1/30/1866.

I know very little about my great great Grandfather, and if you have any info on his company or regiment I would love to hear it, thanks.

William was born in Germany about 1840 and immigrated to America with his grandmother in 1855. They made their home in Caledonia Township, Wisconsin. He enlisted 21 Oct 1861 and was a POW on April 30, 1864 at Jenkins' Ferry, AR. Mustered out on 30 Jan 1866.
