This is my great grandfather. He survived the war. He passed on March 9, 1882. His son was Thomas Jefferson Lee who was my grandfather and served in WW2 I'm not sure if Amaniah was captured or if he was one of the enlisted from company A who surrendered. My father, Johnnie C. Lee was USAF with the 366th TFW in DaNang.

My gr gr grandfather was james franklin scott married to roxie jane brown.

Michael Watford was my great-great grandfather. He was born in 1840, died 1914. According to other sources, he was wounded at Petersburg. It also appears that he was not present at Lee's surrender at Appomattox, as most of this regiment was said to have been captured by Custer's cavalry three days earlier.

Son of Noah and Sara Dowling. Died in Service of Alabama near Pensacola, FL. Born 6Mar1840 died in service 6Sep1861. Buried in Claybank Cem. Ozark, Dale Co. AL.

Enlisted May4, 1863 at Camp Boington, Florida. He was taken prisoner while with Lee's Army on April 6, 1865.

Buried Mt Hebron Methodist Church Cem., Dale Co. ALA Died 28Jan1917.

Young Blood has 8 cards in his archival file. All are very faded and gives limited information. He joined as a Pvt. Co C 11th Florida Infantry. The only card with data is dated Sept 1864 shows he was a patient at General Hospital, Howard's Grove, Richmond Va. He was given a 30 day sick furlough, remarks on the card was, Washington Georgia. He married my 2nd cousin 4x removed.He died Oct 1893 in Gadsden Co. Florida.

(MY MATERNAL GREAT GRANDFATHER)11th Florida Infantry Regiment (The Florida Brigade) Born in Madison, Florida. Joined 5th Florida Inf. 1862, which was later folded into the 11th. Fought in most all of the major battles. Was in Howard's Grove Hospital, Richmond after becoming sick at Petersburg in Sept. 1864. Was given 40 day medical furlough late Sept. '64, and story goes that he walked home to Florida, then headed back to Virginia when he met up with some of his comrades coming home at war's end April '65.

Born January 28, 1825 in Georgia to General John E. Coffee and Ann Penelope Bryan in Georgia. Died May 6, 1896 in Madison Co., Florida. Interred in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Madison, Madison Co., Florida. Film M225 roll 2 (2nd Cousin 5 times removed)

Joseph P. Loyd/Lloyd, b Nov 11, 1825 in Edgefield, SC d May 22, 1873 in Madison, Fl. Origionally enlisted in the 5th Fla Infantry in Madison, Fl Feb 28, 1863 which was later consolidated into the 11th Fla Infantry. He was captured at Richmond Nov, 1865. He was 5'10'', grey eyes, light skin, dark hair.

Born 11 July 1825 in White Plains, SC. Married Mary 'Polly' Phillips on 14 Mar 1847 in SC. Died 5 Mar 1899 in Lafayette County, FL. Parent of nine children. Occupation: Farmer Enlisted 20 Aug 1863 in Madison County, FL. Wounded twice--21 Aug 1864 at Weldon Railroad, Petersburg, VA (furloughed to Quitman, Brooks, GA after hospitilization at Howard's Grove Hospital, Richmond, VA) and High Bridge, Farmville, VA. Captured in Farmville, VA on 6 Apr 1865. Released on oath in Newport News, VA on 24 Jun 1865. Interred in Rogers Cemetery, Day, Lafayette, FL with plaque/headstone showing 'CO E 11 FLA INF, CSA'.

John was Elected/appointed 28 Feb. 1863 in Madison Co Fl. Sworn in by Col. C. Smith in Capt. Beggs' Independent Co. Fl. Infantry. [Bradford Avengers] This became Co E 11th Regiment Florida Infantry. He also appears on the Roster for 11th Regiment Fl. Vol's., Finegan's Brigade, Mahone's Division, Hill's Corps. Army of Northern Va., which was organized 11 June 1864. He was captured on 6 April at Sailors Creek and sent to Sandusky, Ohio. From there to the Old Capitol Prison in Washington DC. Paroled after swallowing the yellow dog.

Enlisted on 1/29/1863 at Westbay, FL as a Private. On 1/29/1863 he mustered into "C" Co. FL 11th Infantry He Resigned on 5/29/1864 (Resigned due to illness) Promotions: 2nd Lieut 4/26/1863 (As of Co. F) Intra Regimental Company Transfers: 4/26/1863 from company C to company F He also had service in: AL 6th Infantry

He was my gggg grandfather and is buried in Esto cemetery Holmes county Florida. Would love to hear from others who are related to him.

Born April 3,1842, Pike Co AL. Enlisted 30 Apr 1863 at Campbellton, FL in the 11th Fla. Inf. in July-Aug 1863 he was stationed in Thunderbolt, GA. On Sept 4,1864 he was transferred to 4 Ala Vol. Infantry. See 4th ALA Inf. CSA for his record in that unit.

Simeon Augustus Beauchamp was mustered in to either the 2nd or 4th Florida Infantry Battalion in 1862 at the rank of Private. He was part of the consolidation of the 2nd and 4th Florida Infantry Battalions in June 1864 and was placed in the 11th Florida Infantry Regiment Co. G. He was then placed with the rest of the 11th Florida in 'Florida Brigade' along with the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Florida Infantry Regiments. He fought with the 11th FL Co. G at: Cold Harbor (June 1-3, 1864), Weldon Railroad (June 23, 1864), Battle of Globe Tavern (August 21, 1864), Battle of Belfield (December 9, 1864), Petersburg Siege (Winter 1864-1865), Battle of Hatcher's Run (February 5-7, 1865). He retreated with the Army of Northern Virginia during the late winter and early spring of 1865 until the first week of April where he and the majority of the 11th Florida were cutoff from the rest of the Army of Northern Virginia. He was captured by Sheridan's Cavalry on Thursday April 6, 1865 around Farmville, Virginia (about 30 miles from Appomattox, VA) at the rank of Corporal. The rest of the 11th Florida that had not been cut off fought at the Battle of Farmville on April 7 and surrendered at Appomattox on April 9 with 23 men (4 Officers and 19 Enlisted). He was interned at Point Lookout POW Camp in Maryland for two months and was released in June 1865. (Born: Coffee County, Georgia circa 1823/1824 | Died: Alliance, Jackson County, Florida 1897)

Edward Washington Vann was born in Abbeville Dist., SC 1824-11-27. He was captured and died in the POW camp at Pt. Lookout, St Mary's, Maryland, USA> on 1864-10-26

Born in GA, he was raised in Russell Country Alabama, near Salem AL. Upon his return to AL, there was little left to keep him there. He moved with his growing family to the Oxford MS area. He died in 1893 of throat cancer. He was my great great grandfather.

He was first with Alabama 20th, Waddell, captured at Vicksburg, paroled. Joined up with GA 28th Batt'n which became a part of Finegan Brigade, FL 11 th Infantry Brigade. Returned home to practice law, became a judge in Americus GA

Mustered 5/21/1861 into Co.'H' as a substitute, hospitalized 7/14/1864 at Howard's Grove Hosp,Richmond, Va. and died of disease 8/24/1864 at Howard's Grove Hosp., Va.

On Jun 11, 1864, this unit became the 11th Florida Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to Captain on Feb 29, 1864. He is listed as part of the Petersburg VA defense in Sept 1864. On Oct 6, 1864 admitted to the General Hospital, Howards Grove, Richmond VA. On Oct 13, 1864 he was admitted to the Wayside Hospital Richmond Va. and then granted 35 days furlough.
