7th Iowa Cavalry

George LeRoy Taylor's pension papers list him as having been in Stufft's Independent Company of Indian Scouts. This group operated out of Nebraska. I believe Iowa's 7th Cavalry was his formal unit but I have been unable to find records beyond his pension.

Enlisted 4/9/1864, mustered out on 5/17/1866. Born 1822, died 1874 after getting blood poisoning from prickly pear cactus while buffalo hunting in Kansas.

Enlisted as a Private on 16 April 1863 at the age of 18. Mustered out on 17 May 1866 at Fort Leavenworth, KS.
