Hi, Interested in details of Company B, 49th Iowa Infantry. My grandfather [John William Holmes] was member from Osage, IA, who deployed 2 Jun 98 from Iowa to Camp Cuba Libre; Jacksonville, FL.
Have set of 37 single uniform button he exchanged with other patients while hospitalized: AL, AR, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, ND, OH, OR, PA, RI, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, and VA.
Seeking source of buttons from: CA, ID, IL, SC, WA, WI, WV, and WY...some of these states may not have particitated which would explain why he did not have those.
