He enlisted in Co. G, 50th Massachusetts Infantry on Sept. 19, 1862 and mustered out of Co. G, 50th Mass. on August 24, 1863 in Wenham, MA. He enlisted on December 16, 1863 as a private and was mustered in to Co. K, 59th Massachusetts Infantry on April 21, 1864. He was listed as wounded on May 15, 1864 (possibly at Spottsylvania) and died of disease on October 13, 1864.
