Shatteen C. Mitchell - Captain
I'm looking for info. On the death of Shatteen C. Mitchell, Jr. also known as Shatteen Claude Mitchell from Griffin, Ga.

He grew up on my family estate called Double Cabins Plantation. The son of a cotton gin maker, Shatten C. Mitchell Sr. who was married to Mahala Burdette. They had 15 children. Shatteen, Jr. was killed At the Battle Of Wincester, Sept. 1864. He was married to Chloe Bartlett daughter of Dr. Myron Bartlett who founded the Macon Telegraph newspaper in the 1820's.

I'm told there are letters out there of evidence of his death of friends of his that served with him. He was a Captain and beloved by his men. I was contacted by an attorney in D.C. who had letters and info. about how he died but I've lost his name and number. IF anyone has any relatives that served with Shatteen Mitchell, Jr. of GA. I think it was the 13th regiment. Please contact me. I am writing a book.
