William J. Jones (1827-1881)enlisted in Tennille, Georgia on March 12th,1862. He was a private in the 'Irwin Volunteers' of Washington County,Georgia. Medical records state he entered Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond,Virginia in June 1862 for treatment of a thigh injury. William received a medical discharge from Confederate service in September 1862 and returned to Georgia.

He later moved to Emanuel, County ga. He is listed in Midville, Burke, county ga in the 1870 census(although he lived in emanuel county. I believe he died in 1870 or 1871. HIs father, Eliphalet Hale, moved from Newberry, Mass to warrenton, ga. in 1813.William was born there in 1820. I am trying to locate his grave or any other information. I

Lived at TN Confederate Soldiers Home for the last few years of his life while on pension for his war efforts. Died 1919 & buried in the cemetery which is on the same property as the home. Name was different on the headstone than the death cert. His family lived in Resaca, Gordon County, GA

Daniel was killed by a Yankee sharpshooter in a battle around Richmond in 1864. The story is he and his brother John Malcolm were crouched in a trench. Daniel kept standing up to shoot even though John told him he would be killed. His spoke his last words, 'I want to get one more damn yankee', then he was shot and killed. He is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA.
