At 17, he joined the Southern Army Company A 42nd Regiment of Ga Voluntiers which was located at Dalton, Ga at that time which was in the year 1864. The third day after he was mustered into service he was sent out on the picket line between the northern and southern armies. He saw no Yankees that day. In about two weeks the Yankees commenced to advance or' the Southern Army. We were placed on Rocky Face Mountain, north of the state railroad 3 miles west of Dalton, Ga.

Albert C. Burgess - Private   
Albert Burgess enlisted in the C.S.A., 42nd Georgia Infantry, Company D on March 4, 1862, the same day as his brother, Henry. Albert was captured on July 4, 1863 at Vicksburg and paroled on July 6. He fought along side Henry thru the battles around Atlanta and into Tennessee. On September 20, 1864, he was captured near Nashville, Tennessee. He was sent to a prison in Louisville, Kentucky were he remained until October 29, 1864. He was then moved to Camp Douglas Prison in Chicago, Illinois where he was held until the war ended. He was discharged at Camp Douglas on June 30, 1865.

Henry Harrison Burgess - Lieutenant   
Henry Burgess began his military service on March 4, 1862 when he enlisted in Company D, Georgia 42nd Infantry Regiment of the Confederate Army. He was captured at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863 exchanged on July 6 and brigaded under General Stovall. Henry was promoted to lieutenant before December 11, 1863. He surrendered with the Army of Tennessee on April 26, 1865 and were paroled near Greensboro, North Carolina on May 1, 1865.

Seaborn volunteered 04 Mar 1862. Company H, 42nd Regiment of GA. Left sick at Knoxville, Tn, Apr 22, 1862. Was captured July 4, 1863 at Vicksburg and was paroled Jul 6 after signing a statement that he would not bear arms against the Union again. He rejoined his company. Was recaptured at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863 and imprisoned at Louisville. Transferred to Rock Island, IL on December 9, 1863 where he remained until the end of the war. Was discharged at Greensboro NC on April 18, 1865. He was born in Morgan Co., Georgia in 1818. He died in 1887 in Walton Co., Georgia and is buried in Ivey Cemetery, Walton Co., Georgia
