David enlisted on 10 May 1862 at Ellaville, Schley Co. Georgia. CMR for Jan-Feb. 1864 he is given a 15 day furlough and that is extended to 60 days. It seems he was sick at home. 10 Jan. 1865 he is suffering from Rhumatism and is a patient at Saint Mary's Hospital at West Point Mississippi.

Henry enlisted 4 March 1862 at Ellaville,Schley County Georgia.
On 28 Oct. 1863 he was wounded while on picket duty and furloughed home for 45 days. This is extended for 30 days. Apparently this affected his combat capability and he is assigned extra duty as a shoe maker at Columbus Georgia.

James was born in Marion Co. Georgia in 1838 to William M. Chapman and Lavinia Cummings. He was 24 when he enlisted on 4 May 1862 at Ellaville, Schley Co. Ga. Enlisting for three years or the war. James was not in good health and he was sick either in camp, at hospital or home the entire time. He was sent home on sick furlough several times to recover. His unit surrendered at Greensboro, NC on 26 April 1865. He was not there as he was sick at home. One source has him being wounded but I have not found that documentation. His poor health continued as he died in 1877 at age 39.

John was approaching 50 years old when he enlisted in Co B. 46th Georgia Infantry on 4 March 1862. He enlisted at Ellaville,Schley County Georgia. He had five or more family members in Co. B. . The military did not agree with him and most of his time was on sick furlough or in the hospital. 14 Feb. 1865 found him at home on sick furlough.

William enlisted at Ellaville, Schley, County Ga. in the 'Schley County Rifles' on 10 May 1862. He is the son of William M Chapman and Lavina Cummings. He is 25 years old and is joining many other members of his family in this unit. William is sick in camp and is admitted to the hospital in Charleston SC. He is captured by the enemy at Jackson Mississippi on 14 May 1863 and is paroled at Demopolis Alabama on 5 June 1863. On 25 Dec. 1863 he is sick in camp and given a 30 day sick furlough. He is then detailed as a shoemakerat Columbus,Georgia when his unit surrendered on 26 Aoril 1865. He died 13 June 1920 and is buried at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church in Marion county Ga.

William enlisted on 4 March 1862 in Schley, Co. Georgia for three years or the war. He is paid $50 bonus. All of his CMR cards finds him in his unit present for duty thru Aug of 1864. Next he appears on a Muster Roll of men surrendered and paroled at Greensboro, NC on 1 May 1865. He has the rank of 3rd Corporal.

James enlisted 10 May 1862 in Sheley Co. Georgia. He was not a well man and most of his time in service saw him sick at home, in camp or in the hospital. He was a patient in Yazoo City Miss. and was captured there the 13th and paroled on the 16th of July 1864. He is described as having Light hair, Blue eyes and 5 foot 6 inches tall. His is sick in hospital at Lauderdale Springs Miss. when his company surrendered. He was the husband of my cousin Emily Chapman.

Abner enlisted on 4 March 1862 at Ellaville, Schley Co. Georgia. Enlisted by Capt. Samuel J.C. Dunlap for three years or the war. Abner's brother Jasper N. is in this company. He mustered in on 4 March, the day of his arrival his Regiment was ordered from Camp Stephen Griffin, Georgia to South Carolina. Stationed at Gramville and Secessionville, SC. Ordered on 14 Dec. 1862 to Wilmington NC, to protect the Railroad at Weldon then returned to Charleston. In August 1863 sent West to Mississippi. Saw action at Jackson. Lost baggage train to enemy. Ordered to Tenn. saw action at Chattanooga, Missionary Ridge. Kenesaw Mountain, Dalton and Atlanta & Numerous Picket fights. Unit paroled at Greensboro, NC 1 May 1865. Deo Vindice.

My great-great grandfather.
Enlisted as Pvt on March 4, 1861 in Cusseta, GA. Appointed 4th Cpl in June, 1864. Wounded July 22, 1864 at Battle of Atlanta. Last record for him was August 31, 1864 and showed he was recovering in hospital. Drew pension till 1922.

My 2nd Great Grandfather Charles Thomas King served as a Lt. in the 46th Ga. infantry. He was wounded at Kennesaw Mt. He was the brother of William Rufus Devane King, vice president of the United States. 

He is buried at Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Whigham Ga.

He lived from 1824 to 1864,He was mortally wounded in Griswoldville at Griswold Mill in Macon,Georgia on November 22,1864

His remains are in the Cleveland family cemetery in Hartwell,Georgia.

According to the 1911 Arkansas Confederate Veteran Census, John`s widow, Ellen, applied for benefits in 1902 in Dallas County, AR. John enlisted 3-4-1862 as a private in Schley Co., GA, with the Georgia 46th Infantry, Co. H, a 1498-member unit that saw action in GA, TN, MS and SC. The company`s deadliest battle occurred 6-15-1864 at Kenesaw Mtn, GA, where 26 died, 90 were wounded, 13 were POW and one was missing. John was hospitalized with illness when the war ended 5-1-1865. The unit became part of the Tennessee Army before surrendering April 26, 1865, in Greensboro, NC. John fought in several battles, including Blue Kings, Lookout Mountain, TN. Co. H was known as 'Marion Volunteers.' In May, 1863, assigned to General Gist`s Brigade, it moved to Mississippi. After taking part in the siege of Jackson the regiment joined the Army of Tennessee and fought on many battlefields from Chickamauga to Atlanta, then saw action in Tennessee and North Carolina. In December, 1863, this unit totalled 628 men and 513 arms, but was greatly reduced when it surrendered on April 26, 1865. Its commanders were Colonels Peyton H. Colquitt and Samuel J.C. Dunlop, Lieutenant Colonel William A. Daniel, and Major A.M. Speer.

Leonard was a 17 years old when he enlisted at Tallbottom, Talbot County Georgia. Enlisting for 3 years. He was discharged on 5 July 1862. No reason given for discharge. However Leonard rejoined his unit. He suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand on 20 Sept. 1863. A medical board at Dalton, Ga. approved a 30 day furlough. No other records have been found. He survived the war and died 9 Feb. 1901 and is buried in his much beloved Georgia soil. Deo Vindice
