I believe this is my great great grandfather. Born 1836 in Pennsylvania and died 28 July 1869 in Illinois. His wife, Martha Means Franks died 24 Dec 1869. They had several young children including my great grandfather Abram Franks. I would like to find out the circumstances of their deaths and who raised the children.

John Vincent Duncan - Private
John Vincent was born August 27, 1843 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. He fought in the Civil war with the 151st Illinois Infantry,Company G and later joined the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) Kile's Post. He was a pioneer coal miner in Sheffield an lived there for forty years. On July 4, 1869 he married Honora Cahill at St. Patrick’s Church in Sheffield, Illinois. She was born in New York on July 4, 1850. In 1908 John retired and he and Honora moved to Davenport, Iowa. John died January 13, 1924 in Davenport. Honorah (Cahill) Duncan was living at 322 E. 8th street in Davenport when she died on June 15, 1924. Their funerals were held at St. Patrick’s Church in Sheffield and they are buried at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. They had ten children.

Casimir was married to my Great Grandfather Sgt Major Fayette Lacey's sister Mary Lacey Jackson. They served together in 37 B IL INF and in 151 I IL INF. Casimir is buried in Lafayette Cemetery, Lafayette, Stark, IL.

Fayette Arthur Lacey - Sergeant Major
Fayette Lacey is my great grandfather. He enlisted under the first call in Co. K, 10th IL, in April, 1861; re-enlisted August 19, 1861, in Co. B, 37th IL, and enlisted again for three years, February 19, 1863 in Co. I, 151st IL. In June 1861 he was detailed as Warden in hospital in Cairo, IL. He was appointed Sergeant Major of his regiment in Spring 1861; participated in the Battle of Pea Ridge, AR, 1862, the Battle of Prairie Grove, AR, 1862 and the Siege of Vicksburg, MS, 1863 and other engagements. He died January 10, 1899 in Tonowanda, Erie, NY. He is buried in City Cemetery, Tonawanda, Erie, NY. His name appears on a Civil War Monument in Plainsfield, IL - on the Illinois Memorial, Vicksburg National Military Park, IL - and on the Tonawanda Civil War Memorial in City Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY.
