Cpl Tolman enlisted in Illinois and re-enlisted a second time. After being discharged, he and his family moved to Colorado where he became a gold miner and worked the mines in and around Georgetown, Empire, Victor, & Cripple Creek. He is buried in the Civil War Section of the Mt Pigah Cemetery on the out skirts of Cripple Creek. Both his grandson and great grandson served in military which included WWII and VietNam
