138th Illinois Infantry

Enlisted as a Lieutenant 2nd Class on 21 June 1864 Commission in Company A, 138th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 21 June 1864. Mustered out Company A, 138th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 14 October 1864 in Camp Butler, Springfield, IL Commission in Company H, 47th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 09 March 1865. Mustered out Company H, 47th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 21 January 1866 in Selma, AL.

Monroe McClanahan was the 17th child of Capt. John McClanahan who headed Company B, 83rd Illinois Infantry. After John's death, Monroe enlisted in Company A, 130th Illinois Infantry on May 30, 1864 and served until October 14th, 1864. He served under his brother, Capt. William Steele McClanahan.

This was William Steele McClanahan's 2nd tour of duty in the Civil War. He served with his younger brother, Monroe Robentile McClanahan.

Enlisted as a Private on 02 May 1864 in Company E, 138th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 21 June 1864. Mustered out Company E, 138th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 14 October 1864 in Camp Butler, Springfield, IL
