Benjamin Martin is my 3rd Great Grandfather who enlisted in 1865 at the rank of Private in the Louisiana Fifteenth Infantry, So - Z and Fifteenth (Weatherly's) Battalion, Sharp Shooters. Benjamin Martin was born on 20 March 1818 in Anacoco, Vernon Parish, Louisiana to William (Billy)(Pioneer) Martin and Eliazbeth (Native Cherokee Indian) and died in 1885.

The most colorful was Joseph. He fought in all the famous battles with The Army of Northern Va.

Pvt. John C. Johnson (also listed as Jones on some records) enlisted April 25, 1861 with Wheat's Battalion, Company B. Present to December 1861. Re-enlisted into Company I, 15th Louisiana Infantry Regiment as a substitute for S. Block on December 21, 1862 at Camp Moore, LA. Present from January to February 1863. Absent sick, March to June 1863. Died in hospital May 1863. He was a born in Tennessee and was a carpenter.
