Andrew was born Andres Rendon. We think he was Spanish. His wife was French. They were married in New Orleans, but we do not for sure where he was born. he started out as a private but promoted to sargeant eventually. he was taken prisoner and spent time in Elmira.

The Louisiana 2nd Infantry Regiment [also called Louisiana Zouaves] was formed at Camp Moore in Tangipahoa, Louisiana, during the spring of 1861. Its companies were drawn from De Soto, Natchitoches, Lincoln, St. Landry, Claiborne, Rapides, and Caddo parishes. Ordered to Virginia the unit was assigned to the Department of the Peninsula and in April, 1862 totalled 782 men. Later it was placed in H. Cobb's, Starke's, Nicholl's, Iverson's, Stafford's, and York's Brigade. It fought with the Army of Northern Virginia from the Seven Days' Battles to Cold Harbor , served with Early in the Shenandoah Valley, then was active around Appomattox . The regiment lost 30 killed and 152 wounded at Malvern Hill , had 25 killed and 86 wounded at Second Manassas , and sustained 62 casualties at Sharpsburg . It reported 15 killed and 90 wounded at Chancellorsville , and of the 236 engaged at Gettysburg , twenty-seven percent were disabled. Only 3 officers and 41 men surrendered in April, 1865..Colonels Ross E. Burke, Lewis G. De Russy, William M. Levy, and Isaiah T. Norwood; Lieutenant Colonels Michael A. Grogan, Jesse M. Williams, and John Young; and Majors Richard W. Ashton and Martin C. Redwine.

John, was born in Darlington Co. SC and moved to Mansfield La. He was 21 years old when he enlisted at New Orleans on 11 May 1861. During the war Co D was also known as Co's, L, K & A. ON 30 August 1862 he is wounded at Manassas and sent home. He is back in his unit in Feb. 1864. In August he is again wounded. He is a POW and paroled on 10 April 1865. He lists his home as Mansfield, Louisiana. He died in 1906.

Enlisted May 11th, 1861, at New Orleans. Wounded at Manassas, August 30th, 1862. Wounded again Winter of 1863. Re-enlisted, prisoner, paroled at Appomattox Court House, April 9th, 1865.

Any information on Jacob Flavel Foster who fought and died at Chancellorsville. He is buried in the Confederate cemetary in Fredericksburg. He was my great great uncle and brother to my great great grandfather, claiborne jasper foster who fought at Vicksburg with the Louisiana 27th co. G. Any information who be appreciated.

Enlisted Feb. 10th, 1863, at Mansfield, La. 18 years old. Wounded in the Spring of 1863, re-enlisted 1864. Prisoner, paroled at Lynchburg, Va., April 14th, 1865.

Brother of William M. Anders

Born in Noxubee County, Ms. in 1833. Attended medical school in Louisana. Joined the 2nd Regiment of Louisiana in New Orleans on 29 April 1861 and to serve one year. WR Cheatham served at several hospitals near Richond, VA and was acting assistant surgeon. Received medical discharged in Richmond on 15 Dec 1862. Discharged was signed by C.D. Rice, Surgeon, 3d Division Winder and Major General Arnold Elzey (Jones), post commander. Buried at Coy United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kemper County, Ms.

If this is my g-g-g grandfather, he would have been 61 at the time he enlisted...and the David Ridge listed in northeast LA (Carroll Parish). If anyone has any means of checking this out, I would be interested to know.

Also...David Ridge is noted to have died February 24, 1862 in Pelican Camp... The only one I find listed is in Virginia.

William enlisted as a Pvt. 9 May 1861 at New Orleans by Capt. J.M. Galt. He has 28 cards in his archival file. On 1 May 1862 he is appointed 1st Sgt. On 5 Aug he is sick at Culpepper Va. on 17 Sept he is severely wounded in the shoulder by a shell blast. He is serving in Iverson's Brigade at this time. In June 1863 he is sent with the sick soldiers to Winchester. Sept 1864 he is on detached duty in the Trans Miss. Dept per order of General Smith. The 2nd mustered 1,013 men for 12 months service. His first battle was 16 April 1862 at Lee's Mill, aka Dam # 1. Malvern Hill, Aug 28 -30th Battle of Manassas. Sharpsburg / Antietam [ he was wounded in this battle] Chancellorsville, Stephen's Depot, Gettysburg, Mine Run Campaign, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Early's Shanandoah Valley Campaign, Monocracy, 3rd Winchester, Fishers Hill, Cedar Creek, Jan - Mar 1865 Siege of Petersburg, Hatchers Run, 25 Mar 1865 Battle of Fort Steadman, Battle of Saylors Creek. Surrendered 3 officers, and 41 men.

According to muster documents, he enlisted in New Orleans and served most of the war detached as a teamster.

George W. Mullinax was my Great Uncle. He was killed on the field of battle at Second Manassas.

His sister, Francis Elizabeth Mullinax, was my Great Grandmother. Her husband was James Van Buren Jackson who enlisted in the 17th Louisiana Infantry, Co. H.

George's brother, Samuel P. Mullinax was also in the 2nd Louisiana Infantry Company I.

Samuel P. Mullinax was my Great Uncle.

He was wounded at Malvern Hill.

He later joined the 13 Partisan Ranger Calvary.

Samuel was captured in Louisiana and died in a Federal Prison Camp.

My Great Grandmother, Frances Elizabeth Mullinax, was his sister. She was married to James Van Buren Jackson, who enlisted in the 17th Louisiana Infantry, Company H.

JH is my great great uncle. He and his brother left Georgia to live in Lousiana and were part of the original Vienna Rifles. Company K became part of the 2nd. His grandfather was a revolutionary war soldier from Virginia, Edward Walthall.
