Marshall David Fleniken - Captain
Brother of my gr-gr-grandmother Sarah Bradley Fleniken.

Born June 23, 1833 in Alabama. Died July 2, 1911 in Desoto Parish Louisiana.

Enlisted and was elected 1st Lieutenant of Company A. 11th Battalion of Louisiana Infantry on May 3, 1862, at Mansfield, Louisiana. Promoted to Captain on June 10, 1863. He submitted his resignation in a letter dated June 29, 1864 in compliance with a Special Order due to the consolidation of the llth with the Crecent Division. The Letter of Resignation became final on August 27, 1864 and was signed by Kirby Smith the Commanding General of the Trans Mississippi in Shreveport, Louisiana.

On June 19, 1906 he applied for and received a Confederate Soldiers Pension from Louisiana.

William Henry Nelson Spinks - Sergeant
Wm H N Spinks was enrolled first in this unit, which was then disbanded 19 Aug 1862. Wm H N Spinks then was chosen to be a sharpshooter for Maj. Austin's battalion. Sgt Spinks was wounded by a gunshot to his thigh while fighting at Missionary Ridge 25 Nov 1863, the last day of the battle of Lookout Mountain near Chattanooga Tennessee. Captured by Union forces, he was admitted to #36 New USA General Hospital, Nashville TN. On 19 Jan 1864, he was sent to another USA General Hospital known as the 'Pest House', then transferred to the US Federal Military Prison in Louisville KY on 20 Mar 1864.From there he was sent to Camp Chase , Ohio as a Confederate POW on 24 Mar 1864. Paroled 12 Feb 1865 as a CSA/Federal prisoner exchange which was conducted in No-mans-land just below Fort Hokes at Boulwares & Cox's Wharf on the James river near Richmond, Virginia on 20 Feb 1865.
