Thomas Weber - 2nd Lieutenant |
Thomas was born in Eagle, PA., in 1839, and moved to West Chester, PA. while young. He was a plumber there when he enlisted in the 97th in 1861. After being wounded in S.C. in 1862, he was seconded to the US Signal Corps and served there till the war's end. His entire service was spent in the deep south. After the war he moved to Reading, PA. where he was city plumbing inspector. He was very involved in post war 97th PA activities. He died in 1913 in Reading.

John Passage Jr was my 3x's great grandfather. He was captured at Weldon Railroad and died as a prisoner of war March 1 1865 in Virginia. I would love to find where he is buried. Family story is he died on railroad car soon after being released. Most of his captivity was spent at Salisbury POW camp in North Carolina.

he was 17 years of age, when he responded to the country's call for aid, enlisting in 1865 as a member of the twenty-fourth Michigan Volunteer infantry. He continued with the army until the close of hostilities
Duane got in the army toward the end of the Civil War and was a foot soldier out of group in Michigan.
One of his older brothers Henry died of disease in Tennessee and was a sergeant in the Calvary. I’ve been told about how he was a part of President Lincoln funeral. In springfield Illinois where Lincoln is buried that my Great Grandpa Duane got to fire a volly of shot at Lincoln grave side service part. He was part of the 21 gun salute
