Served in (Old) Co. I, 9th Mississippi Infantry as a musician in the regimental band. Enlisted 25 April 1861. He was discharged in December 1861 'by reason of reenlistment Dec. 21 by Ord. Genl. Bragg. (Final Statement given by transfer to Col Chalmers new Regt.)' Served in (New) Co. K, 9th Mississippi Infantry beginning 20 December 1861 in Pensacola, FL. He went to hospital on May 10, 1862 in Holly Springs, MS. Was discharged 4 December 1862 from the army. Discharge Certificate states: 'Musician of Regimental Band of the Ninth Regiment of Mississippi Vols, born in Spartanburg District in the state of South Carolina, aged 25 years, six feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black eyes, dark hair and by profession a painter.' Discharged by reason of disability.

George was born 1834 in Madison Alabama and died in 1911 in Saint Landry Parish Louisiana. His home in 1860 was DeSota County, Mississippi. He has 6 cards in his archival file. note in margin of cover CMR: Pvt. Co. B Perrin's Battn: Miss. State Cavalry. Have found no other documentation on this. Enlisted 27 March 1861 at age 26 at Senatobia, in Capt O. F. West's Co 9th Regiment Miss. Vols. This became
[old] Co I 9th Regiment Mississippi Infantry. [Senatobia Invincibles] Enlisted by James R Chalmers for 12 months. March 1861 they marched to Pensacola, Florida and encamped near Fort Barrancas, opposite Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa Island held by US Troops. They fought in most major battles until the end of the war. He is the father in law of stepson of 4th cousin 4 x removed
