This was my great grandfather. He was the son of Philip Hamman and grandson of Philip Hamman of the Rev. war and Indian fighter at Pt. Pleasent. He moved to Texas after the war and is buried at Maud, Bowie Co., Texas having died in 1912.

This is my great-great uncle. he was the son of Philip Hamman of Alcorn Co., Mississippi, living near Hightown. He escaped capture on Feb 16, 1862 and returned home, and was murdered in April. He is buried in the Union Cem. near Hightown, Alcorn Co., Mississippi.His grandfather was Philip Hamman, known as The Saviour of the Greenbrier in West Virginia history and a soldier in the battle of Pt. Pleasent in 1774.

A.C. Vandiver joined civil war in 1861 in Iuka Miss.1861
with his younger brother Elisha H. both in the 23rd Miss . Inf. Company E. ,Before or during the battle of FT. Donnellson . A.C. had an arm shot off, as he was sent home he returned . He rejoined the 23rd Miss. and was elected 1st Lieutenant of his Company, he fought and went home on furlough, he was then taken prisoner and released . He survived the war and became a preacher of Tippah Co. Miss. fro 44 years, he died in 1915

He was died from wounds In Brandon Miss. 1863.There he is buried.

Robert Holman Weir - 2nd Lieutenant   
Robert Holman Weir, a son of Charles B. and Margaret [née Gaston] Weir, was born on June 4th 1828 in Blount County, Alabama. His mother was a descendant of two well known Revolutionary war families; Gaston & McClure of South Carolina.

At the beginning of the Civil War, Robert H. Weir enlisted as a Private in Co. F, 23rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry and was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in 1862; later he rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

Robert was twice married: first to Miss Nancy Faith Thompson (1835-1858) with whom he had four children. After Nancy died he married Mrs. Lucy Dearing Wall, a widow of Pvt. John McClellan Wall; with one son. Robert and Lucy would later have four children. They made their home in Newton County, Mississippi; where Robert departed this life on November 30th 1912 in the 84th year of his age. He was laid to rest in Poplar Springs Baptist Churchyard, Newton County, Mississippi.
