Fought in in the battle of Iuka (MS) September 1862. Wounded October 3, 1862 at the battle of Corinth(MS). Captured, and paroled and exchanged at seige of Vicksburg (MS) July 1863- November 1863. Wounded at Altoona Pass (GA) Early October 1864, and Franklin (TN) (reached the abatis) November 30, 1864. Wounded at battle of Fort Blakely (AL) April 2, 1865. Surrendered with 35th Mississippi Infantry Regiment and returned home to Kemper county, MS May 1865. He lost three brothers during the war.

Assigned as a teamster, was at the fall of Vicksburg, signed his parole paper, went on to fight again and was captured Oct 5, 1864, at Altoona, Ga., was a prisoner of war at Louisville, Ky., Camp Douglas, Ill., and Point Lookout Md, and wound up as far as documented when he was in March 1865 furloughed for 60 days from Chimbarazo Hospital #2, near Richmond, Va. suffering chronic rheumatism. He is listed in census of 1880, West Rd., Holmes Co., Miss.

Captured at Nashville Tenn. and sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago,Ohio. Paroled on 19 June 1865. He was from Kemper County Miss. He and his family moved to Smith County Texas. He was the husband of Euphenia Armintha Thomas, my 3rd cousin 4 x removed.
