James Kirk - Private
|
James Kirk was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., in January, 1845. He died in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in June, 1925. He served for the two-year duration of the regiment, lived in Albany, N.Y., for a year and then in New York City until about 1870, when he moved to Wilkes-Barre. He became a baggage man for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. He received a pension, remarried when his first wife died and raised two families. He retired at 75 and was killed at age 80 when struck by a train. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, Pa. He left numerous descendants.
