Henry T Thomas
- Private
Henry was a 27 year old farmer from Richmond Co. NC when he enlisted 30 May 1861. His parents were James Thomas and Charlotte Roper. It appears he first enlisted in Co. D 13th NC Vol's as he appears on a Report of sick and wounded for that unit dated Sept. 1861 and he died 22 Sept of 1861 of Typhoid Fever. This report was dated at Camp Gaston near the Court House of Fairfax Va. Another card says he died at Camp Ellis Va. It is reported that he was in Co. D 23rd NC Regt, and documentation may indicate that.
However, Noted in the CMR data states that ' The designation of this unit was changed from the 13th Regt. NC Inf. NC Vol's to the 23rd Regt NC Inf. [State Troops ] by S.O. 222 on Nov. 14th 1861. some weeks after Henry's death.
