Frantz, born 1824 in Wurttemberg, Germany. Died 08 May 1872 of TB contracted in Civil War. Also spelled Baier, Beare, Bear. Substitute for James Parker, originally was in 113th Volunteers, 12 Regt PA Cavalry. Transferred to 11th Infantry 11 August, 1865. Served in Petersbug campaign, including Battle of Hatcher's Run. Here he was carried from the skirmish line too sick to continue.
