Henry Getz had previously served and been mustered out of Co. F, 131st Pennsylvania Vol. Inf. in the 2nd Bde, 3rd Div, V Corps, Army of the Potomac. Henry Mustered out with Company F on May 23, 1863.
Henry reenlisted on 21 Sep 1864 as Private in Co. H, 199th Pennsylvania Vol. Inf. and served with the 1st Bde, 1st Div, X Corps, Army of the James and then with the 1st Bde, 1st Div, XXIV Corps, Army of the James.
As such he would have been at the siege of Petersburg, VA and the pursuit of the Army of Northern Virginia to Appomattox, VA.
Henry Mustered out for the second time with Company H on June 28, 1865.
Henry was a member of the Major William H. Byers Post, No. 384 (reorganized as Post No. 612), Department of Pennsylvania, Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.)
