Wm M. Gates entered the Union Army 7 Sept. 1864 Discharged May 1865. 2 brothers also served Henry A (29th and 125th)and Caleb (45th died from wounds received in the Battle of Knoxville Tenn.
Wm. is my G-grandfather.
Wm was a coal miner in central Pa. He was in the mines in 1870 to his death in 1906. He is buried with his 2nd wife (Emma)in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, Pa.
