According to his father's (Richard Robinson) testimony before the Southern Claims Commission in 1877, John ran away from home in Vinings Station, Cobb County, Georgia to join the CSA Army in SC. According to John's Confederate Veterans pension application of 1913 he was recruited in Atlanta along with the Simpson brothers to go to Charleston SC to join. He later married Sylvanis S Simpson after the war.

My great-great-great grandfather. I have a copy of a letter he wrote home from Petersburg VA in October of 1864. It says he was a member of Capt. William Bridges 15th South Carolina Volunteers.

B. 7/4/1844; enlisted 8/61 Lightwood Knot Springs, WIA Sharpsburg 9/17/62 Wound from gunshot approx 1/2 way between sternum and left shoulder, 1 inch below collar bone, exited 1 inch below scapula. This was likely at the hands of the 9th NY 'Hawkins' Zouaves.' Captured and imprisoned in Ft. McHenry. Later exchanged and hospitalized in Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond. Lost use of left hand due to wound, returned from home on medical furlough to rejoin but was turned away. Discharged Feb. 1863.

William was born 18 Aug 1842 in North Carolina. In 1860 the census shows him as 22 years old living in Williamsburg, Williamsburg Co. SC with the Post Office at Murrays Ferry. He has 19 cards in his archival file. He enlisted 16 Sep 1861 in Williamsburg in Capt. J. B. Chandlers Co. 15th Regt. SC Infantry. Mustered near Columbia at Lightwood Knot Springs. In Feb of 1864 he is ordered held for Court Martial, but no other details are known, and he served until the end of the invasion. He was a patient in the Jackson Hospital in Richmond with fever from 1 to 11 July 1864. He was serving in Kershaw's Brigade. Battles: James Island at Charleston, Fort Wagner, 2nd Manassas, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Chickamauga, Fort Sanders, Bean's Station, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, Siege of Petersburg, Deep Bottom, Shenandoah Valley Campaign, Berryville, Port Republic, Strasburg, Cedar Creek, Averasborough, and Bentonville. Late in the war he was transferred into the Co I. 7th SC Infantry and was paroled at Greensboro, Nc 2 May 1865. A remarkable journey thru hell. He died 1 Feb 1897 in Lake City, Florence County, SC and is buried in Jones Cemetary in that county. He was the father-in-Law of my 4th cousin 3 x removed.

Pvt George Feagle was my Great Great Great Uncle from Newberry, SC. He enlisted for duty on 25 Aug 1861. He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 2 Jul 1863, and was transferred to the Point Lookout POW Camp in Maryland, where he died of pneumonia on 27 Jul 1864.

Born 1824 in Lexington County, SC, son of Jacob Frick and Christiner Lever Frick.
Served in the 15th Infantry, Co. I, CSA. Enlisted as a private 03/18/1962, at Camp Elliott, SC. Recruit from Lexington District, Admitted to General Hospital No. 21, 09/27/1862, Present for duty 11/1861 through 04/1862, Present for duty 05/1862 through 05/1864. Wounded in Action at Spotsylvania Courthouse 05/08/1864. Wounded in Action, with mini ball to the head at Cold Harbor 06/04/1864. Seen at Receiving & Wayside Hospital 06/05/1864, admitted with V.S. mini ball head wound to Jackson Hospital 06/05/1864. Transferred from Jackson Hospital to Huguenot Springs Confederate Hospital 07/08/1864. Died of wounds and disease at Winder Hospital in Richmond 07/27/1864. Buried at Huguenot Springs Confederate Cemetery, just outside of Richmond, in Subletts, Powhatan County, VA. Personal effects claimed by Rebecca Wicker Frick, wife, 12/05/1864. Brothers, Sgt. David I. Fulmer, 71, of Little Mountain (now Prosperity), died 11/27/1902. He was a member of Co. ‘I' 15th SC Regt. in the Confederate War, losing an arm at the Battle of Sharpsburg, July, 1862.
A son of Joel Fulmer and Mary Ann Fulmer Fulmer, he was survived by a wife, Frances Texanna Ham Fulmer; 5 children, Thomas Jefferson Fulmer, Harriet Lucinda F. Bickley, Mary Alice F. Keisler, John William Berley Fulmer, Maggie Lenora 'Nora' F. Dominick, and 5 grand children. Burial was in Macedonia Lutheran Church Cemetery, Prosperity, SC.

Born November 25, 1832, served in 15th SC Infantry, Co. I, CSA. Enlisted as a Private August 25, 1861 at Dutch Fork in Lexington District, SC. Appears on a payroll September & October, 1861. Present for duty November & December, 1861. Present for duty on January, 1862 through April, 1862. Wounded in action in right arm Sharpsburg September 17, 1862; Arm amputated. Returned home where he farmed, with only one arm. Died November 27, 1902 at his home in Macedonia community of Newberry County, SC. Buried in Macedonia Lutheran Church Cemetery, Prosperity, Newberry County, SC. Brothers, Levi Jack Fulmer & William Patrick Fulmer also served in the Confederate States Army.

George Noah Calvin Fulmer was the brother of John Hezekiah Fulmer who also served in Company I. Noah was present during the big battles of 1862 (wounded slightly at Battle of Fredericksburg) and 1863. He was wounded and in the hospital in April of 1864. Later that year he is taken prisoner at Cedar Creek on October 19, 1864. Wounded, he was exchanged on October 29, 1864 and eventually returned to the ranks to serve the remainder of the war.

John started out as a Private but ultimately rose to the rank of Lieutenant in Company I. He was well liked by his men, and a brave soldier. He was wounded at the Battle of Sharpsburg and sent home to the Dutch Fork to recover. He was back in the ranks and fought in the Wheatfield at Gettysburg. Part of Longstreet's troops sent to fight at Chickamauga, he was mortally wounded there in the fight near Snodgrass Hill. He died a month later at his home in the Dutch Fork of South Carolina.

~Born May, 1831, died 1907, married Elizabeth Hamm Fulmer. He was a son of Joel Fulmer and Mary Ann Fulmer Fulmer. Lived approx. three miles from Macedonia Church, on the northwest corner of Macedonia Church Rd. & Granny Hill Rd. in rural Prosperity. Children include Patrick Calhoun Fulmer (1854-1935), James Levi Fulmer (1879-1956), Rev. Arie Esmond Fulmer (1882-1974), Roland Hoyt Fulmer (1892-1977), & Julius C. Backman Fulmer, (1895-1966).

William Patrick enlisted in Company I in September of 1861 and served through the war. After the war he married Amanda Louise Long Fulmer, the widow of John Hezekiah Fulmer and had three children. He is buried in Macedonia Cemetery, Newberry, South Carolina.

Jacob Lindler, born August 25, 1822, in Lexington County, SC. Son of John Lindler & Mary Madgalene Aull Lindler.
Served in 15th SC Infantry, Co. I, CSA. Enlisted as a Private March 18, 1862, at Camp Elliott, SC. Present for duty April, 1862. Admitted with typhoid fever to General Hospital Camp Winder in Richmond, VA, August 13, 1962. Furloughed 30 days October 10, 1862, AWOL December, 1862. Present for duty January & February, 1863, present for duty May, 1863 through August, 1863. Wounded in action, Chickamauga, GA, September 10, 1863, died at Medical College Hospital, Atlanta, GA September 29, 1863. Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta, GA, Section B, Row 3, Grave 7. Claim filed by Sallie Eargle Lindler, wife, November 16, 1863.

Lieut. William M. Rogers was the son of Paul and Mary Rogers in the community of New Bordeaux in Abbevile County, South Carolina. He was of Huguenot descent, whose family emigrated to the back country of South Carolina in the mid-1760's.

William enlisted and served as a 1st Lieut. in 15th Regiment South Carolina Volunteers Infantry. In July 1862, the 15th South Carolina was sent to Virginia in Brigadier Thomas Drayton's Brigade. Drayton's Brigade was assigned to Major General David R. Jones' Division of Major General James Longstreet's wing of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. They fought under Drayton at Second Manassas, South Mountain and Sharpsburg. General Robert E. Lee transferred the 15th South Carolina to Kershaw's Brigade after the battle of Sharpsburg. In Kershaw's Brigade, they fought at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. After the battle of Gettysburg, the 15th South Carolina and the rest of Kershaw's Brigade accompanied General James Longstreet to North Georgia and East Tennessee where they fought in the Battle of Chicamauga.

At the battle of Chicamauge, Lieut. William M. Rogers was mortally wound on October 18th 1863. His remains were brought back to Willington, South Carolina and buried in the old Willington Presbyterian Curchyard cemetery. Survived by his wife, Carolina Covin Rogers and a daughter, Susan Frances.

Col Desaussure was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. He was buried on the battlfield, and then removed to Virginia, where he was buried in Richmond, and was removed again to Columbia, SC where lays at rest in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
