Haynes L. Hammond transferred to a NC Regt. in 1864 and was killed at the Wilderness.

Elias has four cards in his Archival file. He first enlisted at Timmonsville, SC in Co F 9th Battalion SC Vol's. aka Pee Dee Rifles. Enlisted by Capt. R.D.E. Rollins on 30 Dec. 1861. The 9th is also known as Smith's and Nesbit's Battn: SC Infantry. This unit became the 26th Regiment SC Infantry on 9 Sept. 1862. Elias was slightly wounded at the engagement at Secessionsville, James Island SC on 16 June 1862. This is the end of his after action report. Deo Vindice

Corp. Collin P. Hucks (Hux) of Horry, SC enlisted January 7, 1862 in SC Inf., Collin was the son of Thomas Hucks 1796-1884 & Margaret Peggy Squires 1797-1874 also of Horry. He was promoted to 4th Corporal in Nov. 1863 & then promoted to 1st Corporal Feb. 1864. He was 5 ft. 61/2 inches tall with dark hair & hazel eyes. He was captured by Yankee troops April 1, 1865 at Southside RR (Battle of Five Forks), Va. & taken to Point Lookout Confederate Prison Camp, Maryland. He was released June 28, 1865 & walked all the way back to SC barefoot. He did make it home & married his longtime sweetheart, Emma Jenkins in 1866, raised a large family & celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1916. Collin P. Hucks died in 1921 & was buried at Brown Swamp United Meth. Church in Horry, SC. He is my GG-grandfather via his son Albert W. Hucks 1869-1951 of Aynor, SC.

Isaiah Gause Hucks 1837-1865 of Horry, SC was the son of Thos Hucks & Margaret P. Squires also of Horry. Isaiah served in the 26th SC Inf., CSA. He died in the war & not much else is known about him. He was one of 5 brothers in the CSA. He is my gg-grand uncle via his younger brother Corp. Collin P. Hucks also in 26th SC Inf., CSA. His place of burial is unknown.

W.P Jordan is my husbands great great grandfather and we have the paperwork from the SC State Library but his name is not listed on here or any where I look. Can you please help us with further information?

Pvt. William 'Bill' P. Jordan 1822-1900 of Horry, SC enlistd with Co. A 26th SC Infantry, CSA. He was the son of Thomas Jordan & unknown mother of the Cedar Grove community (Conway, SC). William P. Jordan was shot through the calf of his leg during the war & did get better without amputation. He married Francis Altman b. 1832 & to this union were born several children. He is my gg-grandfather via his son James Thomas Jordan 1862-1908 of Horry, SC. William P. Jordan is buried at Cedar Grove Baptist Church near Conway, SC (he has a Confederate tombstone with his name, rank/unit, no date). He also has a Southern Cross.

Maximilian was born 23 Nov 1839 in Chesterfield Township, Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co, SC. He has 49 cards in his archival file. He enlisted at Chesterfield Court House on 6 Jan 1862 and was elected to 1st Lieutenant on 29 Jan. He served honorably until his units surrender at Appomattox C.H. Va on 9 April 1865 he as with Wallace's Brigade. Battles: Bermuda Hundred, Petersburg Siege, The Crater, Fort Steadman, Five Forks and Appomattox. He died in 1909 and is buried at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cm. near his home in Mount Croghan, SC.

Alexander was born 2 Dec 1823 in Martlboro Co. SC. He enlisted 4 Feb 1864 at age abt 45. He served in Elliott's and Wallace's Brigades in Va. Was engaged in the Siege of Petersburg The Crater. He was captured at Fort Steadman on 25 Mar 1865. A POW at Point Lookout, Md and released 14 May 1865 after swallowing the yellow dog. He married Caroline Mason and is buried at the LIles Cem, in Marlboro Co SC .

Harris was born 25 March 1835 in Bennettsville, Marlboro County. SC. He was 26 years old when he was enlisted By capt. Sparks on 26 March 1862 for the war. He has 48 cards in his archival file. He was promoted to Capt. on 9 Feb 1865. Served in Evan's Brigade, Johnson's Division, Beauregard's Corps. He was assigned as CO of General Johnson's Provost Guards. Battles. Siege of Petersburg, Crater, Saylor's Creek, Fort Steadman, Five Forks, Bermuda Hundred. He was with Wallace's Brigade when his command surrendered at Appomattox C. H. on 9 April 1865. He died 29 Sept 1876 and is buried in Hebron Cem. Clio, Marlboro Co. SC.

John has 9 cards in his archival file. He enlisted at age 34 in Marlboro Co. SC. Enlisted by W.W. Davis for the war. His unit is in the hard fighting in Va. He is wounded and was taken prisoner at the 3rd Division CSA Hospital at Farmville,Va. He is on a list of POW's paroled from 11 to 31 of April 1865.

My ancestor enlisted at age 16 and was wounded at Appomattox
on last day of war. Survived his wounds, married, fathered
several children and was on the committee which formed Scotland
County, N. C. in 1899. He also founded the town of Gibson, N.C. and is buried there in a family cemetery.

Pvt. Elijah B. Jenkins 1820-1900 was the son of Leonard Jenkins b. 1745 & Mary Walker 1790 of SC. He married 1. Elizabeth Jones & 2. Harriet Stanley. He & wife Elizabeth are my ancestors via their daughter, Emma T. Jenkins Hucks 1844-1925 of Aynor, SC. His place of burial is unknown but very likely at Rehobeth Cemetery, Horry, SC (near his son Elijah B. Jenkins, Jr.).

Pvt. Allen Warren Johnson 1824-1865 of Galivants Ferry, SC (Horry) served in the 9th Battalion, SC Inf, CSA (Smith's Pee Dee Legion) & Co. E, 26th SC Inf., CSA. Warren was married to Celia C. Floyd b. 1822 (dau. of Pugh Floyd (War of 1812 Vet) & Jane Graham of Horry, SC. It is unknown who Warren's parents were. Warren & Celia Floyd Johnson were my ggg-grandparents via their daughter Celia 'Caroline' Johnson Edwards 1854-1910 (wife of Gabriel Edwards) of Horry, SC (Aynor). Allen Warren Johnson died of disease at home in 1865. He is memorialized at Zion Cem, Horry, SC (where he is more than likely buried). His VA stone was erected at Zion Cemetery in 2013 by me(it has his wife's name etched on the back (Celia C. Floyd 1823-1900).

Archibald was born in the Angelus rural Community of Jefferson Township, Chesterfield County SC. He was abt 24 when he enlisted as Pvt Capt D. S Wadsworth's Co E 9th Battn: SC Infantry. Enlisted by N. F. Graham at the Chesterfield Co. Court House on 2 Dec 1861. He was wounded twice in Richmond by a gunshot wound to his Left shoulder and again at Petersburg by a mini ball to his left thigh. He was a POW and was paroled at Richmond on 25 May 1865. We are related by a distant marriage.

Jesse was 21 years old in 1860. He enlisted at the Court House in Chesterfield Co SC on 21 Dec 1861 by Capt Graham in Co E 9th Battn: Sc Vols. This unit suffered huge losses and was consolidated to form Co F 26th Regiment SC Inf. In Feb of 1863 he is Lieut Bakers Command. He suffered from Typhoid Fever. He is captured at Petersburg on 1 April 1865 and paroled on 29 June 1865.

John was born 21 Mar 1834 in Darlington Co. SC. He is shown in the 1860 census as being 26 y/o living in Clarendon, Clarendon Co. SC. The Post Office is at Bethlehem. He has 15 cards in his archival file. He enlists at Mount Plesant, SC on 4 Dec 1861 by Capt. Leland for the war. He is in the hospital in Savanna Ga. in Aug 1863 where the remarks state that he is to be payed as 1st Sgt from Aug 1863. He initially enlisted as 2nd Sgt. His records reveal little of his service but does say that in Feb of 1863 he is on detached service with Lt. Floyd and on 16 Feb 1864 he is on furlough for 20 days to his home in Clarendon, County. He died 2 Oct 1901 and is buried at Bethel Baptist Church, Olanta, Florence Co. SC. He was the father-in-law of my 4th cousin 3 x removed.

Captain Tomlinson's records have not been throughly researched. He was from Darlington County SC. He was married to Elender J. E. Thomas. The basic data presented was taken from her widow's pension application.

Ebbenezer has eight cards in his military file. He was abt 27 years old. Enlisted at Mount Pleasant, SC on 4 Dec. 1861 by Capt. Leland, for the war. All that is known for sure is that he died from battle wounds at the CSA Hospital in Lauderdale Springs, Mississippi on 26 July 1863. He had a few sundries in his pocket and $1.70 cents.

John has 20 cards in his military file. He enlisted in the same unit as his son Ebbenezer. 15 Dec. 1861 in Co H 26th Regt. SC Infantry. He enlisted in the Williamsburg Disrict but lived in the Sumter District. He was enlisted by Capt Dickinson in Co D Chestnut Guards of Manigault's Battalion. This unit evolved to be Co B. Byrd's Battn: SC Infantry. He was about 33 years old. In August of 1863 he is absent in the hospital at Savannah Ga. In Sept. and Dec. his is sick and a home on sick furlough. He is captured at Farmville Va. on 6 April 1865 and sent to City Point. He was paroled on 26 June 1865 after swallowing the Yellow Dog. He is described as 5 ft 11 inches tall, dark complexion, dark hair with grey eyes.

Alexander was born 19 June 1844 in District 1 Darlington County SC. The 1860 census shows him at 16 y/o in Williamsburg, Williamsburg County SC. The Post Office is at Murrays Ferry. He has 16 cards in his archival file. He enlisted 13 Jan 1862 at Mount Pleasant, SC enlisted by Capt. Dickerson for the war. 17 Nov 1863 he is sick in the hospital, there are no details but on 24 Dec he is given a 10-day furlough. On 15 August 1864 he is in the Episcopalian Church Hospital suffering from Typhoid Fever [ Febris Typhoides] once well enough he was given a 30-day sick furlough beginning 25 Sept 1864. Battles: Sessionville, Siege of Jackson, Mississippi, Charleston Harbor, Petersburg Siege, The Crater, Bermuda Hundred, Fort Steadman and Five Forks, where he was captured 1 April 1865. Sent to Point Lookout, Md and released 27 June 1865. Described as 5 foot 7 inches tall, with fair complexion, dark brown hair, and dark blue eyes. He served in N.G. Evans, Elliott's and Wallace's Brigades. He died 8 Feb 1930 in Johnson Twp, Florence County, SC. He is buried beside his wife Ann Atkins McClam in her family's cemetery in Florence Co. SC. He was the father-in-Law of my 5th cousin 2 x removed. His cause was just and may he rest in peace.

James was 35 years old. He enlisted 11 April at Myersville, SC in, Co I 26th Regiment SC Infantry. There are 16 cards in his military file. His unit is plagued with illness and finds him in the hospital in Savannah Ga and also in Richmond Va. He is on sick furlough in Feb. 1864. He is with Elliott's Brigade at Richmond where he is admitted for chronic diarrhea. He is paroled 17 May 1865. He died at Lake City, Florence County SC on 20 March 1900.

Jesse was a 31 year old farmer. He enlisted in Co C 6th Battn: SC Vol's [Byrd's]. With consolidation this became Co I 26th Regt. SC Infantry. He enlisted at McClellansville,SC on 14 May 1861. In Aug. 1863 he is sick in the hospital. Taken as POW at Five Forks Va. on 1 April 1865 and sent to City Point. He is released at Point Lookout on 20 June 1865 after swallowing the Yellow Dog.

This was my great great grandfather

Daniel Enlisted in Conway, SC...He was a resident of Juniper Bay SC. He served as a scout/sniper for his company. A cousin related this information, whom knew Daniel when he was old.He was captured inside of Union lines during the attack on Ft. Steadman at the siege of Petersburg. He was taken to Point Lookout, MD. Released in June of 1865. He walked back to Horry Co. from MD. He had no shoes and his feet were mangled and crippled. Family member stated whom talked to Daniel, that he was nearly dead upon arrival at the Martin farm. Died in 1926. Daniel is my g Uncle. Daniel was 5'4 and had a ruddy complexion. I do have painting and photo of him.
