The cover card states [see also 2nd Sc Art'y.] He joined Hagood's Unit at age 19 as a private on 12 April 1861 for a period of 12 months at Summerville, South Carolina. Sworn in by Capt. Kemmerlin. The last Muster Roll card is dated 1 March to April 11 1861. He next appears on a Company Muster Roll with Co.F 2nd South Carolina Art't. dated April 12 to June 30 1862.
