7th Tennessee Cavalry
Company Unknown
John M McGinnis - Private
John was at home after being discharged from the 4th TN Infantry.

While the 7th cavalry (Faulkner's Company of Jackson's cavalry) was enforcing the conscript law in the Dyer county TN area (around August 1862), John was 'volunteered' or he voluntered himself to go back into service (unknown which).

He was at the named rendezvous at a spot 8 miles south of Ripley, TN, in Lauderdale County (the next county South of Dyer County) as part of Jackson’s 7th Tennessee Cavalry (Faulkner's)awaiting movement out.

Anyone know what the Company of this unit was?

Anyway, he and others were captured (on or about 11 Aug, 1862)and sent to Alton, IL prison from Aug 1862 to Sept 1862.

Company G
William Walton McConnell - Private
Enlisted at Paris, TN Feb. 1864. After the Battle of Brice's Crossroads he was apparently on sick call, but remained with the regiment. His NARA records show he was declared a deserter in Nov. 1864. He states in his pension request that after he became ill he remained with the regiment but did not engage in combat. He claims he and several others were left at Jackson, TN Sept. 1864 when the regiment moved into Middle TN. He then made his way home to Paris, TN. He was a life-long bachelor and in his later years lived in his brother's household. He died in 1925 and is buried in Old Antioch Cem. north of Paris. His gravestone was placed by the Daughters of Confederacy. It features a Confederate battle flag carved over the top.
