I know very little about my Great-Great Grandfather on my fathers side. What I do know is he enlisted in the Jackson County Rangers 6-61 and was assigned to Company G of the 10th Virginia Calvary and he was at a Camp David 8-5-61. He transfered to Company G of the 17th Virginia Calvary in 6-62. He was born and raised in Ravenswood Virginia and his father Captian Willaim Hicks built and was a Captianed several Steamboats on the Ohio and Mississippi. He survived the war a went west and at that point we lost track of him.

Alexander C. Bennett - Private

This is my Great grandfather who died Sept,01,1863 in Albemarle,Virginia. He had typhoid and was in a house that was made into a hospital. Mrs. Rodes took care of him, I have a copy of a letter she wrote to my great grandmother. I have been told that her husband was a general or someone who held a high rank. I can't find this location, he is buried there on the land with his brothers Thomas and Zensus. I believe the gentleman name was Robert Rodes. The boys were from Patrick County, Virginia. Alexander enlisted in Franklin County. Judith Bennett Johnson
