This was my Great-Great Grandfather who was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. He subsequently died from his wounds on July 19, 1863 at a hospital in Winchester, Virginia.

Enlisted in Prince George County, VA, at the age of 17. After 'Rooney' Lee was wounded and captured, Col. John R. Chambliss was put in charge of the regiment. WHH was chosen to be Chambliss' orderly. In November 1863, he was wounded and captured in Culpepper County, VA: eventually sent to Point Lookout, MD prison camp. He was exchanged and sent home, only to be wounded a second time.
