Ebenezer, in an apparent burst of patriotic fervor, enlisted at age 51; he evidently became ill soon thereafter, and spent most of his enlistment period in the hospital. I've found numerous subsequent post-war requests for a disability pension. His son, Dwight Wilson Bennett, ran a store in Silvermine (or Wilton?).

Pvt. John Delaney, Company A, 18th Connecticut Volunteers (Infantry) killed in action July 18, 1864, Snickers Ford, Virginia. Headstone in St. Mary's Cemetary, Lisbon, Connecticut.

Captured at Battle of New Market, Va May 1864 and sent to Andersonville Prison in GA, where at the end of the war he paroled through Savannah, Ga. Suffered from Bright's Disease contracted while at Andersonville. Died 1900.

The 18th Connecticut Volunteer Regiment List of Battles: Kernstown, Cedar Creek, Berryville, Winchester, New Market, Piedmont, Lynchburg, Snicker's Ford, and Winchester. Isaac Wood Smith served in the civil war from 1861 to 1865. He was in company B - 18th Regiment Connecticut Infantry. His rank in was Private and his rank out was Private. His side was the Union.

Enlisted in Company C, Connecticut 18th Infantry Regiment on 18 Aug 1862. Mustered out on 27 Jun 1865 at Harper's Ferry, WV.

MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER ENLISTED AT AGE 15 IN 1863 AND WAS DISCHARGED IN VIRGINIA 1865. COMPANY C WAS COMMANDED BY CAPT J. ROCKWELL BEST I CAN READ ON THE OLD DISCHARGE IS THAT HE WAS FROM NORWICH, CONN.

wounded at Piedmont, June 1864, sent to Andersonville and died at Annapolis in March 1865 from disease, chronic dysentery.

John Johnson born Ireland. Mustered Norwich, CT. Aug.'62. Captured 2nd Winchester, released. Wounded 5 Jun '64 at Piedmont,VA (gunshot wound to the leg) and captured at Staunton, sent to Andersonville,GA. Survived and returned home to Colchester,CT. He was unable to work the rest of his life due to wound and illnesses contracted in Andersonville. Any information on my GRGR grandfather and/or 18th Conn. Inf is appreciated.
