4th Georgia Cavalry

James started out with the 4th GA Cavalry. from what i have discovered that unit had 3 canons attached to it. Later those canons where reassigned to form clinch's artillary under the younger brother of the commander of the 4th GA Cav. My GGG Grandfather transfered at that time. I assume that while he was with the 4th GA he was assigned to those canons at some point. as i find more information i will make it available.

Joseph was born 26 Aug 1839 in Tattnall Co. Georgia. He is not to be confused with Joseph Tillman from nearby Bulloch Co, Ga who served at age 44 in the 29th Ga Infantry. [Their records are intertwined in the archives] My Joseph has 3 cards in the Archives 4th Reg Ga. Cav Clinch's. not to be confused with another Ga. 4th Cav called Avery's. This unit was formed in Jan 1863 using the 3rd Cav Battn: as its nucleus. It served along the Georgia coast until summer of 1864 when it was assigned to M.E. Hammonds Command. Joseph died of unknown cause on 24 Feb 1865 at Quitman, Brooks Co Ga. I have not found his grave. His wife Sarah Jessie Everett in 1867 remarried Edison Oliver Arnold and moved to Lockhart, Caldwell Co Texas.

Abel T. Yearwood was with White's Company. He had 17 children.

He enlisted June 6, 1863 at Camp Tatnall, in (Clinch's) 4th GA Calvary.

Taken prisoner on September 2, 1864 near Jonesboro, Georgia. Paroled on September 22,1864 near Rough and Ready.

McDonald's Company, Homer Cavalry, Blue Tiger Regiment

Born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina abt. 1831 Peter moved with his family to Floyd County, Georgia about 1850. In 1862 he enlisted in Company F Floyd Legion Georgia State Guard which was merged with the 4th Cavalry. He married Dici Morris in 1862. October 2, 1863 he was captured at Sequechie Valley, Mississippi and imprisoned at Camp Morton, Indiana where he died of phuemonia and is buried at Green Lawn Cemetery.

He enlisted 10 Dec 1862 at Waynesville, GA, in (Clinch's) 4th GA Calvary.

John was about 42 years old when he enlisted on 9 August 1863 in Thomas Co. Georgia. Corporal Co F 4th Ga. Calvary [Clinch's] He has 9 cards in his file. In Dec 1863 he is on detached duty hunting for deserters. In June 1864 he is detached to shell corn. He was captured and on 17 May 1865 swallowed the 'Yellow Dog' He was the husband of my 2nd cousin Martha Godwin, who was the daughter of Mary E Gandy 1806 - 1840, my cousin 4 x removed

He was taken as a POW at Tallahassee, FL on 10 May 1865. He was paroled at Thomasville, GA on 19 May 1865.

PERRY LEWALLEN WAS A MEMBER OF THE 4TH.CAVALRY GEORGIA STATE GUARD, MCDONALD COMPANY,BLUERIDGE TIGER REG.(HOMER CAVALRY)PERRY WAS A SHOEMAKER AND FARMER IN BANKS COUNTY,GEORGIA BEFORE THE WAR. PERRY WAS SENT HOME SUFFERING FROM EXTREME EXPOSURE AND HAD POOR HEALTH FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE,HE DIED IN 1897 AND IS BURRIED IN THE HICKORY FLATS UNITED METHODIST CEMETERY IN LULA,GEORGIA IN THE LEWALLEN FAMILY PLOT.THE LAND THAT THE CEMETERY IS ON WAS ONCE PART OF PERRY LEWALLENS FARM.PERRY WAS MARRIED TO REBECCA MORRIS LEWALLEN WHO FILED FOR AND COLLECTED PERRYS CONFEDERATE PENSION FOR MANY YEARS.MY MOTHER EDITH LEWALLEN NICHOLS WAS HIS GRANDDAUGHTER.
